MENOMONIE (April 8, 2024) - Eight Blue Devil athletic greats will be inducted into the UW-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday, Oct. 26 in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center.
Gymnast Naomi DeLara, track and field pole vaulter Daniel Drewek, hockey forward Derek Hanson, football tight end Patrick Mengelkoch, track and field and cross country standout Tim Nelson, softball first baseman Erin (O'Connell) Anderson, swimming and track and field coach John Miller and long-time sports information director Layne Pitt will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the evening ceremonies.
The UW-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony will be held in conjunction with UW-Stout's Homecoming festivities.
Inductees will be introduced at halftime of the homecoming football game against UW-Eau Claire, which is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at Don and Nona Williams Stadium. The induction ceremony will be held in the Memorial Student Center following the game, with the reception beginning at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and the induction ceremony at approximately 6:45 p.m.. The evening will include dinner, cash bar, and remarks from all inductees in attendance.
The 2024 UW-Stout Hall of Fame class brings the number in the Hall of Fame to 202. The UW-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame inducted the first class in 1978.
An interactive video display recently replaced the former Hall of Fame showcases in the Sports and Fitness Center next to the entrance to Johnson Fieldhouse. The Wall of Champions displays the names of all of the members in the UW-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame, plus a video station which will allow viewers access to information on the Hall of Fame members, scholar-athletes and all UW-Stout student-athletes who have achieved All-America honors.

The purpose of the UW-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame, which was established in 1978, is to pay tribute and to give deserved recognition to former athletic letter winners, coaches/athletic personnel who have demonstrated outstanding contributions while on campus or since graduation and thereby to enhance school tradition. To nominate a former Blue Devil athlete for consideration into the UW-Stout Athletic Hall of Fame, use the
Hall of Fame nomination form. Ten years must have passed since an athlete last competed at Stout to be eligible for consideration.
UW-Stout Distinguished Service Athletic Award recipients
