His dominance in Wisconsin State University Conference football play was demonstrated in 1969 when he was selected at tackle to the all-conference offensive and defensive teams. He also was all-conference in 1968 at defensive tackle. Drafted by the New York Giants, he successfully competed at the professional level with the Toronto Argonauts and the Hamilton Tiger Cats until his retirement in 1974. Winning the CFL's Gray Cup Championship was a highlight that eventually led to a successful business career.
