An all-conference linebacker who earned honors both on and off the field. A 1970 graduate, he lettered four years in football, served as co-captain two years and was selected most valuable player his junior and senior years. Twice intercepted four passes in a single game, sharing a conference record. His selection as the university's "outstanding" freshman athlete was evidence of the future honors he would earn.
