Captain of the baseball team and letterman in football and basketball in 1917. One of Wisconsin's most successful high school track coaches. Coached five state championship teams at Port Washington High School. Coached a state Class B basketball championship team in 1937. Was also football coach and athletic director before retiring in 1962 to become the city's first full-time recreation director.
