Earned a total of nine letters at Stout. In football, a four-year starter at halfback and an all-conference defensive back his senior year. Most valuable basketball player in 1952 and 1953. Was player/coach of the 1952 Blue Devil baseball squad. In 25 years as baseball coach at Lake City (Minnesota) High School, his teams have compiled a 189-49-2 record and have collected 11 conference and eight district titles.
