No one carried the football as many times as Luke Bundgaard, a workhorse tailback for the Blue Devils from 2000-03. Bundgaard went on to become UW-Stout's all-time leading rusher and leading scorer. Bundgaard set the conference all-time rushing record with 4427 yards (since broken) and was named to the WIAC Centennial All-Time Football Team. Along the way, Bundgaard set school career records for points scored (240), yards (4427), carries (922) and TDs (40). Bundgaard rushed for more than 100 yards in 21 games.  In 2003, Budgaard set single season records for rushing yards (1461) and carries (294). During his freshman season in 2000, a year the Blue Devils captured the WIAC crown, Bundgaard set the school record for most yards in a single game, running for 335 yards against UW-Platteville, a game he set the record for most carries (45) and tied the school record with four TDs. Flash ahead to 2003, his senior year, and it was like deja vu against Platteville. Bundgaard carried the ball a record 53 times, ran for 328 yards (second most in school history) to break the conference rushing record and scored four TDs. Bundgaard was a four-time All-WIAC selection, three times first team. He was selected to the USA Football.com Freshman All-America team and earned second team All-America honors as a senior and played in the Aztec Bowl, an all-star game for Division III players.
