UW-Stout's all-time leading women's basketball scorer, Julie Maki owned the Stout women's basketball record upon graduation. Maki held career records for points (1620), scoring average (15.1), field goals (638), field goals attempted (1424), assists (469). Maki, the Blue Devils' point guard, was 1993 All-American and WWIAC player of the year, the season she averaged a school record 23 points, tossing in 575 points. A WWIAC Scholar-Athlete, Maki was a three-time first team all-WWIAC selection and two-time NAIA District 14 pick. Maki is also part of two school record track relay teams and ran cross country. Maki was inducted into the WIAC Hall of Fame in 2012, the first year of the Hall's existence. The same year, Maki was selected to the WIAC All-Time Women's Basketball Team. Maki, a native of Owen, currently resides in Liberty, North Carolina. with her husband Todd Wanless and two sons, Cordell and Casey.
