JANESVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Stout women's golf team claimed the team title at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invite at Janesville Riverside Golf Course, with the tournament shortened to a single round after day two was canceled due to weather.
The Blue Devils, ranked No. 29 nationally, fired a 13-over-par 301 to finish atop the field, comfortably ahead of Aurora (+23) and Illinois Wesleyan (+26).
UW-Stout was paced by
Julia Imai, who earned medalist honors after carding an even-par 72. Imai's round set the tone for a balanced Stout lineup that placed four golfers inside the top 15.
Ashleigh Johnson finished fourth with a 2-over 74, while
Brin Neumann placed sixth after shooting a 4-over 76.
Sarah Chaffee added a 7-over 79 to finish 14th, and
Hallie Tulip rounded out the team scoring with an 8-over 80, placing 18th.
Competing as individuals,
Kaitlyn Bohl and
Peyton Zipperer finished 79th and 84th, respectively.
With weather wiping out the final round, Stout's opening-round performance stood as the final result.
The Blue Devils will return to action on April 25-26 at the Wartburg Spring Invite in Waverly, Iowa at the Prairie Link Golf Course.
