MINNEAPOLIS – The UW-Stout men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Gopher Classic Saturday at the University Fieldhouse.
The Blue Devils men's team recorded several podium finishes. On the track, Sophomore Malachy Driscoll placed sixth overall in the finals with a season-best time of 8.47. Freshman
Brody Feldmann followed in eighth, also posting a season-best mark of 8.67.
The Blue Devils swept the top three positions in the 200 meters. Freshman
Kendall Jaenicke won the event with a season-best time of 22.33. Sophomore Malachy Driscoll finished second at 22.34, while junior
Braedon Pederson placed third in a season-best 22.41.
Freshman
Nolyn Lindner led UW-Stout in the 400 meters with a seventh-place finish, running a season-best 50.50.
Kendall Jaenicke followed in ninth with a season-best 50.59, while sophomore
Conner Blade placed 12th in a season-best 51.41.
In the field events, senior
Matthew Binstock tied for second overall after clearing a season-best 2.00 meters. Senior
Noah Flood Elyafi placed fourth with a season-best mark of 1.90 meters, while junior
Ethan Rupakus finished fifth at 1.85 meters.
UW-Stout earned second and third place in the pole vault as juniors
Braden Krystosek and
Sam Knox each cleared a season-best height of 4.75 meters.
Junior
Braedon Pederson led the Blue Devils with a fifth-place finish and a season-best leap of 6.66 meters. Senior
Noah Flood Elyafi followed in seventh at 6.61 meters, while freshman
Kolvin Mayer placed ninth with a season-best mark of 6.45 meters.
Senior
Karter Rashke captured the shot put title with a season-best throw of 17.19 meters. Sophomore
Carter Robaidek placed 10th with a season-best mark of 14.95 meters, while sophomore
John Baker finished 11th at 14.93 meters.
Junior
Maverick Metzger led UW-Stout with a seventh-place finish in the weight throw, recording a season-best throw of 18.02 meters. Senior
Jesse Fowler placed eighth at 17.05 meters, while sophomore
Braden Borgerding rounded out the Blue Devils' top three with a season-best 16.61 meters.
The UW-Stout women's track and field team recorded several strong performances Saturday at the Gopher Classic, highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes and a nationally ranked result in the pole vault while competing against a deep collegiate field at the University of Minnesota.
Junior
Lilly Gamache led UW-Stout with a sixth-place finish in the finals, posting a season-best time of 7.90. Juniors
Makayla Durango and
Esme Irel followed in eighth and ninth with season-best times of 8.02 and 8.08, respectively.
Gamache again paced the Blue Devils with a seventh-place finish and a season-best time of 26.34. Irel followed in eighth at 26.36, while Durango placed 10th with a season-best 26.40.
Junior
Corrina Tvedt led UW-Stout with a seventh-place finish, running a season-best 1:00.20. Junior
Megan Liebers followed in 10th with a season-best time of 1:01.55, while freshman
Ava Budworth placed 12th at 1:02.12.
Junior
Becca Hansen placed second overall in the high jump after clearing a season-best height of 1.55 meters. Freshmen
Marissa Flannery and
Ella Schmoll each recorded season-best marks of 1.35 meters.
UW-Stout posted one of its strongest performances of the meet in the pole vault, placing multiple athletes near the top of the collegiate field. Junior
Raegan Sorensen led the Blue Devils with a second-place finish after clearing 3.92 meters (12-10.25), a mark that ranks sixth nationally in Division III this season. Senior
Leah Zastrow followed closely in third, clearing 3.77 meters (12-4.50). Juniors
Mack Champion and freshman
Zoe Myers tied for sixth overall, each clearing 3.47 meters (11-4.50), with Myers' mark ranking 56th nationally in Division III. Sophomore Madi Wolff placed ninth at 3.32 meters (10-10.75), while sophomores Lina Gustafason and freshman
Miranda Gantner each cleared 3.17 meters (10-4.75).
The Blue Devils will return home to host the Stout Quad on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Sports and Fitness Center
