LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-Stout men's and women's track and field teams turned in impressive performances at the UW-La Crosse Indoor Eagle Open on Friday, highlighted by a record-breaking run from senior Brekkyn Lammert in the women's mile.
Lammert Sets New School Record
Lammert etched her name into the UW-Stout record books with a time of 4:56.73 in the women's mile, surpassing the previous school record of 4:57.75 set by Katie Jacobson in 1999. Lammert's performance secured first place in the event and stands as one of the top times in Division III this season. Teammates Claudia Lasiowski (5:11.20), Olivia Donohue (5:13.48), and Mckayla Felton (5:17.94) also posted strong finishes in the event.
Men's Team Finishes Second, Women Take Fifth
The UW-Stout men's team finished second overall, while the women secured a fifth-place team finish, showcasing depth and strength across multiple events.
Men's Top Finishers
In the men's 800-meter run, Kory Wiegert led the Blue Devils with a fourth-place finish, clocking in at 1:57.61. Silas Green (1:59.69), Jacob Oyen (1:59.79), and Nick Schulte (2:00.94) rounded out the top four Stout runners.
The Blue Devils excelled in the 3000-meter run, with Colin Hanson (8:38.29) and Nels Trandahl (8:42.80) taking second and third place, respectively. Julian Van Antwerp (8:43.39) and Nick Sitzer (8:44.65) placed fourth and fifth, contributing to an impressive showing in the distance events.
In the men's mile, Casey Deboth finished fifth overall with a time of 4:17.36, followed closely by Mason Aide (4:29.76), Max Bailey (8:57.34 in the 3000-meter run), and Kyle Newton (9:02.08 in the 3000-meter run).
Women's Top Performers
In the women's 400-meter dash, Corrina Tvedt claimed first place with a time of 59.67 seconds. In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Hannah Zastrow took home the title, crossing the line in 8.65 seconds, while teammate Lilly Roberts finished eighth at 9.16 seconds.
Leah Zastrow led the Blue Devils in the pole vault with a third-place finish at 3.84 meters. In the high jump, Hannah Zastrow cleared 1.66 meters to place third.
Field Event Highlights
Noah Flood Elyafi (1.92m) and Caleb Whitney (1.92m) secured third and fourth place finishes in the men's high jump. Sam Knox cleared 4.58 meters in the pole vault to finish in a tie for fifth.
Lincoln Wellsmith took second in the women's shot put with a throw of 13.17 meters, while Aubree Koenings (12.79m) and Grace Schmidt (11.15m) placed sixth and 12th in the women's event.
Koenings also had a stellar performance in the weight throw, earning second place with a mark of 17.86 meters. Teammate Sam Leoni finished eighth with a throw of 14.53 meters.
