This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: Feb. 17-23

THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: FEB. 17-23

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils split a pair of games last week, falling 58-66 at River Falls and defeating Platteville 67-55. Stout is locked into a first-round bye in the upcoming WIAC Tournament.   

Raegan Sorensen averaged 15p-10r-3a-2.5s in two games this week. She was 5-9 for 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal at River Falls. Against Platteville, She recorded a 14 point, 14 rebound double-double. Tying a career-high on the glass. She added four steals and four assists. 

The Blue Devils will travel to Stevens Point, Wis. on Wednesday Feb. 19 to face the Pointers. Stout will return home to face the UW-Oshkosh Titans on Saturday Feb. 22. Tip-off from the Johnson Fieldhouse is set for 3:05 p.m.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils split a pair of games last week. Beating River Falls 82-81 on Wednesday and falling on the road to No. 3 Platteville 76-58 on Saturday. 

Mason Stoik was 5-10 shooting and 4-6 from 3-point range for a career-high 16 points, 4 boards, steal, and assist to help lead Stout to an 82-81 win over River Falls. Then, on the road at #3 Platteville, he topped his personal best with 17 points (5-9 shooting, 6-6 FT), five rebounds and an assist to lead the Blue Devils in scoring.  For the week, he was 10-19 (52.6 %) and 5-9 3pt (55.6)  4.5 rebounds per game. 

The Blue Devils will host UW-Stevens Point on Wednesday Feb. 19. Tip-off from the Johnson Fieldhouse is set for 7:05 p.m. Stout will then travel to Oshkosh, Wis. on Saturday Feb. 22 for a 7:05 tip with the Titans.  

GYMNASTICS

The Blue Devils defeated Simpson College in a dual meet last week 189.650-184.975.  

Jamie Beatty had a career-night in a dual meet with Simpson College. She won the all-around with a personal best 38.400, which is the third highest all-around score in Stout history. She also set personal bests in the vault (9.625), Bars (9.750), and floor (9.675).  Her 9.750 score on the uneven bars tied for the second highest score in school history. 

Isabela Krulich won the floor exercise with a 9.775. She also took second on the balance beam with a 9.600. 

The Blue Devils will host UW-Oshkosh and Winona State on Thursday, Feb. 120 at 6 p.m. in the Johnson Fieldhouse. 

ICE HOCKEY

Stout split the weekend series with UW-Eau Claire. Wining 5-4 in overtime and falling 402 in the regular season finale. 

Hayden scored two goals in Friday's win over UWEC. Tipping in Stout's third goal of the first period and then scoring the overtime winner.    

The Blue Devils are the 5-seed in the WIAC Tournament and will travel to 3-seed UW-River Falls for a two game series on Feb. 21 and 22. Puck drop from hunt arena is set for 7 p.m. both nights.

INDOOR TRACK

The Blue Devils hosted the Stout quad last Friday. 

In the men’s events. Thomas Casey won the 60H at the Stout Quad with a time of 8.26, also running 8.24 in prelims. That time ranks 5th in the conference and 33rd in the nation. 

Karter Rashke was the top collegiate finisher in the Shot Put at the Stout Quad with a throw of 17.52m.  That throw ranks 2nd in the conference and 4th in the nation, and beat the national leader at the meet.

In the women’s results, Lilly Roberts won the 60H at the Stout Quad with a time of 8.99.  That time ranks 6th in the conference and 29th in the nation.

Lincoln Wellsmith won the SP at the Stout Quad with a distance of 13.10m. That throw ranks 5th in the conference and 27th in the nation.

The Blue Devils will travel to La Crosse, Wis. on Friday, Feb. 21 to compete in the Caged Eagle Invitational at 3 p.m. in the Hetzel Fieldhouse. 

SOFTBALL

The Blue Devils opened the 2025 season with a 6-0 win over Gustavus Adolphus and a 10-2 loss to Macalester College. 

Anna Blanford opened the season with six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and three walks while striking out 6. Pitching the Blue Devils to a 6-0 win over Gustavus

Payton Dolecki had a hit and RBI in Stout's win over Gustavus. Against Macalester, Dolecki was 2-2 with a double and a run scored

The Blue Devils will travel to St. Cloud, Minn. for a double header with the College of St. Benedict on Saturday Feb. 22. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. in the Husky Dome.
