This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: April 20-26

THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: April 20-26

SOFTBALL

The Blue Devils split a doubleheader at the University of Northwestern, falling 14-5 and winning 10-2 in five innings.

Elly Holden went 5-7 (.714 BA) with a 1.571 slugging percentage, 2 HR, 4 RBI, and 4 runs scored, with a stolen base in two games against Northwestern. In game two, she hit a three-run homer in the second inning and the walk-off solo shot in the bottom of the 5th to give Stout the walk-off run rule win.

The Blue Devils will play eight conference games this week. They host River Falls on Tuesday, April 21, at 4 p.m., travel to UW-Whitewater on April 22 at 3 p.m., travel to UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, April 25, at 1 p.m., and return home to play UW-Platteville on Sunday, April 26, at 12 p.m.

BASEBALL

The Blue Devil baseball team dropped home games to UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point last week.

This week, the Blue Devils travel to River Falls on Wednesday, April 22, for a doubleheader with the Falcons at 1 p.m. They will then travel to Oshkosh for a four-game weekend series with the Titans April 25-26.

LACROSSE

The Blue Devil lacrosse team dropped their home finale on Saturday, falling 19-11 to Hamline.

The Blue Devils will wrap up the 2026 season on Wednesday, April 22, when they travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to play Augsburg University at 6 p.m.

TRACK & FIELD

The UW-Stout men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Phil Esten Challenge on Thursday and Friday.

 Leah Zastrow set a school record in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.03 meters.

 Jesse Fowler finished third in the hammer throw with a throw of 57.96m, ranking third in the conference and 12th in the nation. 

Next weekend, the Blue Devils will compete in two events: the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa (April 24-25) and the Dick & Mary Johnson Invitational in Eau Claire, Wis., at the Simpson Field Sports Complex.

TENNIS

The Blue Devil tennis team dropped a close 4-3 match at River Falls on Saturday. 

The Blue Devils will wrap up the 2025-26 season on Thursday, April 23, when they travel to St. Paul, Minnesota, to face the University of Northwestern at 6:30 p.m.

FLAG FOOTBALL

The Blue Devils flag football team competed at the University of Northwestern Jamboree, falling to the College of St. Benedict 20-13 and Bethel University 26-6, and beating St. Olaf College 24-19.

The Blue Devils will travel to Eagan, Minn. on Saturday, April 25 to compete in the Midwest College Women's Flag Football Championship at the TCO Performance Center. The bracket is still to be determined.

MEN'S GOLF

The UW-Stout men's golf team had a record-tying opening round and finished sixth overall at the Forester Spring Invite. 

The Blue Devils fired a program record-tying 282 in Friday's opening round, matching the lowest single-round team score in school history. Stout followed with a 307 on Saturday to finish with a two-day total of 589 (+13).

 The Blue Devils will compete next weekend, April 25-26, at the St. John's Spring Invitational in St. Cloud and Monticello, Minn., played at the Wapicada and Monticello golf courses.

WOMEN'S GOLF

The University of Wisconsin-Stout women's golf team won the team title at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invite at Janesville Riverside Golf Course. 

Julia Imai earned medalist honors with an even-par 72. 

The Blue Devils will next compete at the Wartburg Spring Invite in Waverly, Iowa, April 25-26, at the Prairie Link Golf Course.
