ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The UW-Stout men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2024 season sweeping the Toni St. Pierre Invitational.
Arely Jaime Luevano and
Matthew Thomas were individual winners.
The women's team won the 5k race with 26 points. Stout swept the podium and took four of the top five spots.
Arely Jaime Luevano won with a time of 18:31. Two seconds back was
Brekkyn Lammert (18:33),
Claudia Lasiowski placed third with a time of 18:44 and
Olivia Donohue was fifth in 19:02.
Nikki Harrison placed 16
th (19:49),
Jorie Anderson placed 28
th with a time on 20:08 and
Arlie Kapaun was 33
rd with a time of 20:18.
The Blue Devil men followed with an equally dominant performance. Stout had their top-seven finishers cross the line in a span of 15 seconds, and placed 13 in the top-20.
Matthew Thomas and
Casey Deboth finished 1-2, a second apart with Thomas (15:29) edging out DeBoth (15:30).
Eli Marszalek and
Calvin Fiala took sixth and seventh in a time of 15:37.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21 when they travel to Northfield, Minn. to run at the St. Olaf Invitational. The women run at 10 a.m. and the men run at 11 a.m.
