CARLISLE, Pa - Mckaya Felton raced to a 23rd overall finish to earn All-American Honors at the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday. The Blue Devils men's team finished 21st overall.
Felton's personal best time of 21:30 in the women's 6k race was the second fastest time in school history in the 6k event. Felton raced from the front of the pack right form the gun. She was in 11th places after a mile at 5:34 held the position after two miles at 11:29 (a 5:54 split). She crossed the 5k check point at 18;10 in 21st place with a 1.1 mile split of 6:41 and finished strong with a 3.20 final kilometer to set her personal best.
She became the fourth Blue Devil woman to earn All-American distinction (Katie Jacobson-97 and 98, Katy Olsen-97 and 98, Kathleen Thorn-2015).
The Blue Devil men's team raced to a 21st overall finish, which tied for the highest national meet team finish in school history.
Ian Williams paced Stout with a 8k time of 25:20 to finish 55th overall.
Eli Marszalek placed 127th with a 25:53.
Matt Thomas was just over a second behind with a 25:54 to place 133rd.
Andrew Carlson took 160th (26:06).
Calvin Fiala was 190th (26:15)
Max Fore was 205th (26:21) and
Colin Hanson was 209th with a time of 26:22. The final four Blue Devils all finished within 16 seconds of each other.
