REEDSBURG, Wis. – Julia Imai won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Golf Championship by seven strokes Sunday at the Reedsburg Country Club and the team placed second overall. Head Coach
Sophia Connett was named the 2024 WIAC Coach of the Year.
Imai, a freshman from Brookline, Mass., won the 2024 WIAC Championship with a 54-hole score of 229 to win by seven strokes. Her 13 over score of 72-76-81 was just four shots off of the record that was set last year by Stout's
Abbey Filipiak.
Imai shot an even par 72 to lead the first round by four strokes. The day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-four 318-yard hole nine. One day two, she carded a 76, but still held a four-stroke lead. She finished day three with an 81 to take the individual championship by seven strokes.
Brin Neumann tied for seventh overall with an 84-74-85-243. Just three strokes back,
Sydney Grimm tied for 13
th, shooting an 84-79-83-246.
Abby Terada (82-86-87) and
Hallie Tulip (88-82-85) tied for 28
th with a 255.
As a team, The Blue Devils finished second with a 322-311-334-967, just nine strokes back from WIAC Champion UW-Whitewater.
Playing Individually,
Avery Meyer carded a 261 to tie for 40
th.
Kaitlyn Bohl shot a 265 to place 45
th,
Madeline Kiley was a stroke back in 46
th with a 266.
Liz Rohl was 49
th with a 268,
Cassie Santelman tied for 55
th with a 275,
Andrea Smith shot a 277 to place 59
th and
Peyton Zipperer was 60
th with 278.
Zipperer was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
