MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Stout's
Julia Imai received Kwik Trip Player of the Year and Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year accolades to lead the individuals on the 2024 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Golf Team.
Sydney Grimm and
Brin Neumann were named second-team All-WIAC.
The team was determined by using a combination of the WIAC Championship results (50 percent) and the SCOREBOARD Powered by Clippd Regional Rankings (50 percent) distributed on Oct. 17. A player must have completed a minimum of eight rounds in order to be considered for selection to the All-Conference Team and Player of the Year, while a minimum of six rounds were needed to qualify for Newcomer of the Year.
Imai, a freshman from Brookline, Mass., is the third Blue Devil to claim the top conference award, joining Brittany McNett-Emerich (2012 and 2014) and
Abbey Filipiak (2021-spring and 2023). Imai owned a 75.80 stroke average this fall and claimed medalist honors at the WIAC Championship. She also recorded a first-place finish at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational, tied for second at the UW-La Crosse Fall Invitational, and placed sixth at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational.
Imai is the third individual in program history to claim the newcomer distinction, joining Klairissa O'Reilly-Dye (2019) and
Abbey Filipiak (2021-spring). A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women's golf this season.
Sydney Grimm, a senior, Waunakee, Wis., received second-team All-WIAC honors. She won the UW-La Crosse Fall Invite with a 70-77-147 and was named WIAC Golfer of the Week. She also had two top-three finishes and has a season stroke average of 77.0.
Brin Neumann, a sophomore, Warrens, Wis., received second-team All-WIAC Honors. She tied for seventh overall at the WIAC Championships with an 84-74-85-243. She took third at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invite and has a season stroke average of 79.1.
