THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Blue Devils (0-2-0, 0-0-0 WIAC) will travel to UW-Superior (0-1-1, 0-0-0 UMAC), Tuesday, Sept. 7 for a 4 p.m. contest, then return home Thursday, Sept. 8 for a 7 p.m. meeting with St. Norbert College (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NACC). Stout will round out the week when they travel to Concordia-Moorhead (1-1-0, 0-0-0 MIAC), Saturday, Sept. 10 for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
Stout finished the 2021 season with their best record since 2011 season at 11-8-1, 3-4-0 WIAC. Stout made their first trip to the WIAC Championship tournament since the 2017 season, but lost to UW-Stevens Point, 4-1.
ON-LINE: All of Stout's home games are expected to be available in a live video stream and in live stats.
PETS: While service animals are welcome, no pets are allowed at UW-Stout athletic events.
A LOOK BACK AT THE 2021 BLUE DEVILS: Stout had one of their best seasons in recent memory scoring an average of 1.55 goals per game while only allowing 1.20. THE BLUE DEVILS PREVIEW: The Blue Devils come into the 2022 season with the largest roster in school history, with 35 players listed, which includes a freshman class of 15 and a sophomore class of 13. All region midfielder Marissa Steele returns to lead Stout's offensive attack as Stout returns 11 of 13 of their top scorers from 2021. Steele, a senior midfielder, led the team offensively, scoring five goals and dishing off eight assists for 18 total points to earn first team all-conference honors and third team all-region honors. Liv Winkler, a sophomore forward, was the team's leader in goals with six and passed off three assists for 15 points. Stout returns seniors Caylee Boone, Rachel Younker, Whitley Carothers and Julia McNamar. All-conference defender Hailey Kane returns in the backfield. THE BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: UW-Stout scored their first goal of the season early in the fourth minute, but could not hold off Hamline University in the season opener, dropping a 2-1 road contest Thursday. WIAC PRESEASON POLL: The Blue Devils were picked to finish sixth in the WIAC, according to a preseason poll by league coaches and sports information directors.

A LOOK AT UW-SUPERIOR: The 2021 Yellowjackets finished 18-4-1 (13-0-1 UMAC), outscoring their opponents 69-20. Averaging three goals a game on 20 shots, Superior led the UMAC in nearly every category, including Goals For, Margin of Victory, Shots, and Corner kicks. The Yellowjackets came out of the UMAC in 2021 and are predicted to repeat this year according the UMAC Preaseason Coaches Poll. Niya Wilson, who scored 20 goals (eight game winners) and recorded 11 assists in the 2021 season, returns after winning UMAC Offensive Player of the Year. SO FAR IN 2022: After three exhibition games, UW-Superior opened up it's season with the same two opponents as Stout. The Yellowjackets fell to Augsburg 2-1 in their season opener, and then played a scoreless game against Hamline, opening the season at 0-1-1. THE LAST TIME SUPERIOR AND STOUT MET: UW-Stout stayed unbeaten with their fifth shut out of the season, with a 2-0 victory against UW-Superior. | Game Story and Stats
THE SERIES: The Blue Devils lead the all-time series 26-0-1. The lone tie comes from the first match-up between the Blue Devils and Yellowjackets, a game that ended 1-1 after OT in Eau Claire on October 8, 1995. | History
A LOOK AT ST. NORBERT: St. Norbert finished the 2021 season with a 10-9-1 (8-4-1 NACC) record. The Green Knights outscored opponents 45 to 33 with 353 shots. Leading scorer Abby Thompson (10 goals, one assist) returns for the Green Knights, but other top scorers Hanna Lech and Emily Names both graduated last year. Juniors Kait Schweitzer (five goals, and four assists in 2021) and Mallory Names (three goals, two assists in 2021) will look to lead the team. A LOOK AT CONCORDIA-MOORHEAD: Finishing with a 5-12-0 (2-9 MIAC) record in 2021, the Cobbers return all but one player for the 2022 season. Moorhead scored 25 goals on 166 shots. Lauren Tschider and Sophia Robinson earned All-Conference Honorable mention last season. Tschider lead the team in points with four goals and six assists while Robinson chipped in with three goals and three assists, anchoring the Cobber defense. Samantha Holmberg and Amber Weibye each finished the season with 13 points. Holmberg lead the team with her six goals and also added an assist while Weibye had four goals and five assists. Breanna Nelson got the majority of starts in goal last year, allowing 28 goals in her 1298 minutes played. Nelso had a .754 save percentage making 86 saves in the net. | 2021 Statistics

AWARDS: 2021: Marissa Steele was selected to the All-WIAC Conference team along with earning All-Region honors...Hailey Kane also made an appearance on the All-WIAC team for her work in the 2021 season...Marissa Steele was the WIAC/Kwik Trip athlete of the week and the UW-Stout athlete of the week, Sept. 14, after scoring two game winning goals against St. Scholastica and Cornell College...Liv Winkler was the UW-Stout athlete of the week after scoring a goal in each of the first two games of the season, including the game winner in the season opener against Concordia-Moorhead.
TEAM CAPTAINS: Blue Devil team captains for the 2022 season are Caylee Boone, Marissa Steele, Rachel Younker and Julia McNamar.
UW-STOUT COACH RYAN RAUFUS: Coach Ryan Raufus (71-95-20) is in his 12th year as the head coach of the Blue Devils in 2022. Raufus played his college ball at Springfield College in Massachusetts and came to Stout after coaching at La Crosse Logan High School and La Crescent, Minn., High School. DOWN THE ROAD: The Blue Devils have most of the work week off, scheduled for two games on the weekend. Stout will host Viterbo University, Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. and the College of St. Benedict, Sunday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.
