Stout stays unbeaten with 2-0 win over UW-Superior

UW-Stout 2, UW-Superior 0

MENOMONIE (September 15, 2021) - UW-Stout stayed unbeaten with their fifth shut out of the season, with a 2-0 victory against UW-Superior.

UW-Stout (5-0-1) takes care of UW-Superior (2-3-0) in a 2-0 victory Wednesday night at Nelson Field. After a scoreless first half, Stout's Marissa Steele picks up her first assist of the night helping out Remy Soulak start the second half with a goal in the 52nd minute. Steele along with Carly Kauffman are credited with the assists on a Liv Winkler goal in the 77th minute.

With a stifling zone defense, the Blue Devils controlled the Yellowjackets' shooters, while pelting the Yellowjackets' goalie with 14 shots on frame. Stout held a distinct 24-3 advantage in overall shots. Stout also controlled the ball for 67% of the game, in addition to having nine corner kicks while not allowing Superior to have even one. This helped goalie Haley Vokaty who recorded one save in her third shutout of the season. These strong performances have earned Stout a fifth ranking in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Region IX Sept. 14 poll.

Stout soccer will return to Nelson Field on Saturday, Sept. 18, to face Macalester College at 1 p.m.
