MENOMONIE (September 3, 2022) - With the exception of one play, UW-Stout played Augsburg University relatively even before falling to the Auggies, 1-0, in the Blue Devils' home opener Saturday at Nelson Field.
Making her second consecutive start in goal, senior
Julia McNamar (Belleville) had only the one blemish on her record today, recording six saves on the day, including a couple of diving saves a couple of point blank saves.
McNamar let only one goal come in when, in the 64th minute, the Auggies' Annika Rudolph took a throw-in at approximately the 18-yard mark on the opposite side of the field, dribbled down the right side to just inside the other 18-yard mark and booted the ball to the opposite side for what would prove to be the only score of the game.
McNamar made three saves in each half as Stout fell to 0-2-0.
Rachel Younker (Sr, Genoa, Ill) had three shots, including one shot on net, while
Lauren Boyd (So, Buffalo, Minn) recorded the other shot on frame. Both shots were stopped by Augsburg goalie Iz Shuster. The Auggies recorded nine total shots to six for Stout.
The Blue Devils return to action Tuesday, Sept. 6 when they travel to UW-Superior for a 4 p.m. contest. Stout hosts St. Norbert College, Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m., then heads to Concordia-Moorhead, Saturday, Sept. 10 for a 3:30 p.m. statrt.
