UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational
PRESCOTT (September 4, 2022) -
Kendra Swanson and
Abbey Filipiak finished first and second as the UW-Stout women's golf team ran away with the team title at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational Sunday at Clifton Highlands Golf Course.
Swanson had a five stroke lead after the first day of competition and the only player she had to hold off on Sunday was her teammate, Filipiak.
Swanson scored a 76 on the first day and an 82 on second day to finish with a two-day score of 158. Filipiak was in third place after the first day with an 82 and made a run at Swanson, scoring a 77 on Sunday to finish with a 159. Filipiak was five strokes ahead of third third place finisher, UW-La Crosse's Allison Balduzzi, who finished with a 164.Â
Stout had four players finish in the top 10 along with Swanson and Filipiak. Freshman
Hallie Tulip tied for fifth with an 86-85 - 171 and fellow freshman
Liz Rohl tied for ninth with an 88-89 - 177. Sophomore
Sydney Grimm rounded out the A team's scores, finishing in a tie for 20th with an 86-97 - 183.
The Blue Devils won the team event by 29 strokes, tallying a 663. UW-La Crosse was second at 692 and the La Crosse B team was third with a 705. Stout's B team tied for sixth with a 769.
Em Humphrey led the Stout B team wth an 18th place finish, scoring an 89-92 - 181. Maddie Kiley was 32nd (92-102 - 194);
Grace Warrner tied for 33rd (94-101 - 195; and
Andrea Smith was 38th (100-99 - 199).Â
The Blue Devils will be at the Division III Midwest Classic Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18 at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings, Minn.Â
