Culver's Student Athlete Spotlight: Jenna Driscoll

Each week during the 2021-22 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a "Student-Athlete Spotlight" Q & A segment. The segments will be posted every Thursday and individuals are selected by the institution. The WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlights are presented by Culver's.

Name:  Jenna Driscoll
Institution:  UW-Stout
Hometown (High School):  St. Croix Falls, Wis. (St. Croix Falls High School)
Year in school:  Sophomore
Sports: Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field
Major:  Early Childhood Education

Why did you choose UW-Stout?
I chose UW-Stout because I liked the distance away it was from my hometown, and I wanted to be on the track team.

What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in?
I am involved in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization that I found through an event hosted on campus.

What causes do you care about?
I care about empowerment and mental health in sports.

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
My favorite part about competing in in the WIAC is getting to know the people that I am competing against. Since I am a long/triple jumper I spend a lot of time at the end of the runway so I get to talk to the girls I am competing against, and they are all really nice. It is nice being a student-athlete because it helps me stay motivated to get things done.

What is your favorite…
Menu item from Culver's?  Mint Oreo Concrete Mixer
Flavor of the Day from Culver's?  Caramel Fudge Cookie Dough
Non-Athletic Spot on Campus?  Heritage Hall
Movie?  The Hunger Games
TV Show?  Grey's Anatomy
Food?  Tacos
Musical Group/Artist?  Taylor Swift
Professional Sports Athlete?  Simone Biles
Hobby?  Dancing
Quote/motto?
"You didn't come this far to only come this far"

What is your greatest sports moment?
My greatest sport moment was when I hit a PR at an indoor meet last season on an important day, so it meant a lot to me.

What is the best thing that you bring to the team?
I am a hard worker at practice and like to get things done the correct way. I am a very reserved person and teammate, but if anybody ever needs anything I am there, and I also normally know what's going on and what needs to get done at practice.

Do you have any words of advice for younger/upcoming student-athletes?
Don't be afraid of the upperclassmen or coaches; they are all here to help you and are excited that you're a student-athlete and a part of the team.

What is your favorite thing to do off the court/field with your teammates?
My favorite thing to do with teammates is honestly just hang out in the dorms and watch movies.

If you could trade places for a day with a person, who would it be and why?
I would trade places with one of my friends so I could see what their day is like and what they think about all day.

What is your dream job?
My dream job would be to work on a cruise ship as an entertainer in an acrobatics show if I could do all the things they did.

Three things on your "bucket list"?
---Going up in a hot air balloon.
---Parasailing.
--See a Broadway show.

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, what are they?
I don't have any superstitions or rituals, but there is one stretch that I do before every time I get on the runway.

What is your biggest "pet-peeve"?
My biggest pet-peeve is when there is a small noise, and I can't tell where it is coming from or how to make it stop.
