UW-La Crosse Eagle Open
LA CROSSE (May 14, 2021) - UW-Stout's
Noah Zastrow broke his own school pole vault record and just narrowly missed another target at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open Friday.
Zastrow cleared 17-feet, 7-inches to break his own record 17-5.50, then raised the bar to 18-1, but went out in three tries, barely scraping the bar with his chest on the way down in his best attempt at the mark. Zastrow holds the top mark nationally by nearly a foot.
Kevin Ruechel took first in the discus with a toss of 169-6 and the shot put with a mark of 56-5.25.
Nate Karau was eighth in the discus (150-2),
Alec Benzinger 12th (133-10) and
Jacob Bugella 13th (132-7). Benzinger finished sixth in the shot put (51-4.25). Bugella was second in the hammer throw (190-4).
Connor Walechka was 11th in the hammer (148-10).Â
Daniel Nesja won the triple jump (44-11) and
Isaac Lee was sixth (42-10.75).
Carter Wente was third in the 110-hurdles at 15.07, but ran a 15.00 in the preliminaries.
Noah Beck was fourth in the 110-hurdles (15.45). Beck was third in the 400-hurdles (58.75). Wente was fourth in the 200-meter (22.93).Â
Owen Jelinek seventh in the open 400-meter (51.01).
Jacob Tomazevic placed eighth in the pole vault (14-9.50) and
Jacob Backes was 11th (14-3.50). Zastrow placed sixth in the long jump (21-7.50).Â
The Blue Devils return to La Crosse for the two-day UW-La Crosse NCAA Final Qualifier, May 19-20. Several of the throwers will compete at the Augustana (Ill.) Twilight Qualifier, Thursday, May 20.
