MENOMONIE – The University of Wisconsin–Stout men's and women's track and field teams turned in a strong day on their home track Saturday, recording multiple event victories and podium finishes while hosting the Warren Bowlus Open.
Women's Highlights
UW-Stout collected several wins on the women's side, led by a record-setting performance in the field events.
Senior
Leah Zastrow captured first place in the pole vault, clearing 4.02 meters (13-2.25) to set a new meet and facility record. Stout took the top four places in the event with
Raegan Sorensen placing second clearing 3.76.
Mack Champion was third (3.61) and Zoe Meyers was fourth (3.46).
Marissa Flannery placed third in the high jump clearing 1.53 meters (5-0.25).
Lilly Gamache took second in the long jump with a mark of 5.15 meters. Isabella Jaenicke was third with a leap of 5.08 meters.
Jaenicke won the triple jump with a mark of 11.17 meters (36-7.75).
Lincoln Wellsmith was second in the shot put with a mark of 12.20 meters.
Becca Hanson was third in the pentathlon with 3106 points.
On the track, sophomore
Addie Christopherson won the 800 meters, finishing first in 2:31.04. In the 600 meters, freshman
Alexys Smith earned a third-place finish with a time of 1:42.88.
Megan Liebers was third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.67 seconds.
Claudia Lasiowski won the mile with a meet record time of 5:02.42.
UW-Stout closed the meet with a victory in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team of
Megan Liebers,
Corrina Tvedt,
Ava Budworth and
Karlynn Gustafson finished first in 4:08.11.
Men's Highlights
The UW-Stout men's team earned multiple top-three finishes in the distance events, showcasing depth across the 3,000 meters.
In the 3000-meter invitational, junior
Julian Van Antwerp finished second in 8:45.47, while junior
Mason Aide placed third, crossing the line in 8:45.73.
Nick Stitzer was fourth (8:52.17) and
John Nehmzow was fifth with a time of 8:54.41.
The Blue Devils claimed wins in two additional 3,000-meter sections. Freshman
Lucas Anderson won the 3000-meter navy section with a time of 8:55.05, while sophomore
Westin Fisher took first place in the 3000-meter white section, finishing in 9:09.96.
Thomas Casey was second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.20 seconds.
Silas Green was third in the 800-meters with a time of 1:56.76.
Braedon Pederson was second in the 200-meters with a time of 22.48 seconds. Kendal Jaenicke was just behind in third in 22.49 seconds.
The Blue Devils 4x400 meter relay team of
Nolyn Lindner,
Conner Blade,
Nolan Zachgo,
Logan Scott cruised to a four second win with a time of 3:26.01 seconds.
In the field events, junior
Triton Robey recorded a fourth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.62 meters (15-1.75).
Patrick Dorch was second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.90 meters.
Matthew Binstock was third with a mark of 13.55 meters.
Karter Rashke took second in the shot put with a throw of 17.81 meters.
The Blue Devils will be back in action next weekend when the travel to Minneapolis, Minn. run in the Gopher Classic on Saturday, Feb. 7.
