Gustavus Adolphus College Drake Alternative
ST. PETER, Minn. (April 24, 2021) - Led by two one-two finishes by
Brent Heilman and
Carter Wente, the UW-Stout men's track and field team collected 11 first place finishes at the Gustavus Adolphus College Drake Alternative Meet Saturday.
Heilman and Wente finished first and second in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Heilman was first in the 100 with a time of 10.99 seconds and first in the 200 in a time of 22.42 seconds. Wente was second in the 100 at 11.27 and in the 200 at 22.72.
Wente was also on the front end of a first and second finish in the 110-hurdles with
Noah Beck. Wente took first in the event in a time of 15.32 and Beck was second at 15.84. Beck collected his own first place medal, winning the 400-hurdles in a time of 58.93.
Hawkin Petron and
Jacob Tomazevic finished first and second, respectively, in the pole vault, with Petron clearing the bar at 14-feet, 9-inches, and Tomazevic at 14-3.25.
Kevin Ruechel and
Alec Benzinger were first and second, respectively, in the discus. Ruechel, who had also competed earlier that day in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, won Gustavus discus title with a toss of 155-0 and Benzinger was second with a mark of 145-8.
Cody Lohrenz was part of two first place finishes, winning the 400-meter in a time of 48.43 and was a member of the first place 4x400-meter relay team along with
Owen Jelinek,
Caleb Green and
Keegan Pulchinski. The team won the event in a time of 3:22.62.
First place finishes went to
Trevin Nelson in the 800m (1:57.33),
Ethan Hinderman in the 3000-steeplechase (9:59.18), and
Nate Karau in the javelin (144-7).
