LA CROSSE (April 2, 2021) - The UW-Stout men's track and field team finished second at the UW-La Crosse Tribute Triangular Friday night at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. UW-La Crosse finished with 124.0 team points while the Blue Devils placed second with 101.0 and Gustavus Aldophus College (Minn.) third with 97.0.Â
For the Blue Devils,
Jacob Bugella set another personal best and won the hammer throw. Bugella added six feet to his toss from the previous week, finishing with a mark of 190-feet, 11-inches. In the outdoor season opener a week earlier, Bugella had a mark of 184-7.
Kevin Ruechel captured a first and second place finish, winning the discus with a personal-best mark of 174-9 and was second in the shot put with a 51-5.
Alec Benzinger had three top five finishes, placing third in the shot put (50-5), third in the discus (156-0) and fifth in the hammer throw (160-1). The hammer and the discus were personal-bests for Benzinger.
Nate Karau was fourth in the discus with a PR of 150-0.
Cody Lohrenz and
Lucas Carroll finished first and second in the 400-meter, with Lohrenz clocking a time of 50.38 seconds and Carroll a 51.48.
Keegan Pulchinski was fourth (51.96) and
Owen Jelinek fifth (52.08). Lohrenz, Pulchinski and Jelinek teamed with John Hess to finish first in the 400-relay (3:27.61).Â
Noah Beck and
Carter Wente were first and second in the 400-hurdles, with Beck turning in a time of 59.20 and Wente a 1:01.95. Wente was fourth in the 110-hurdles (15.12) and Beck was fifth (15.34). Â
Brent Heilman was fourth in the 100 (10.67) and third in the 200 (21.78).Â
Hawkin Petron was third in the pole vault (15-0.25) and
Jacob Tomazevic was fifth (14-0.50).
Jack Roeber was fourth in the long jump (21-4.75) and
Noah Zastrow, who took a break from the pole vault, was fifth in the long jump (21-0.75).
Brandon Dick was second (5-11.25) in the high jump and
Hayden Zachgo was third (5-9.25).Â
The Blue Devils will be at UW-River Falls, Saturday, April 10.Â
