Men's track and field team capture top spots in all field events

RIVER FALLS (February 27, 2021) - UW-Stout took first place finishes in each of the field events and captured first place crowns in four running events as the Blue Devils defeated UW-River Falls, 87-45, Saturday at Knowles Center.

The Blue Devils not only took first place in every field event, they also captured the second place finish in every field event and were third in four of the events. 

The Blue Devil throws team dominated competition today with their depth. Jacob Bugella won his fourth straight weight throw title, as the junior extended his personal-best to a toss of 59-feet, 8.50-inches. Bugella was third in the shot put (43-7.25). Kevin Ruechel won the shot put with a mark of 55-3.50 and was fourth in the weight throw (50-11.50).  Alec Benzinger had a pair of second place finishes, marking the shot put at 53-0.75 and the weight throw at 55-8.25. Connor Walechka was third in the weight throw (55-4.75). Nate Karau was fifth in the shot put (38-7) and sixth in the weight throw (46-6).

Noah Zastrow won the pole vault at 17-0.25. Jack Roeber was first in the long jump (20-10.75) and third in the triple jump (41-11.75). Daniel Nesja wont he triple jump (44-6). Bobby Vang was second in the long jump (19-10.75) and Simon Lual was second in the triple jump (43-4.25). 

Caleb Green was first in the 200-meter (22.99 seconds). Cody Lohrenz took the 400-meter (50.34). Ian Williams was first in the 3000-meter (8-minutes, 55.82-seconds). Noah Beck won the hurdles (8.72). Brent Heilman had a pair of second place finishes in the 60-meter (7.10) and 200 (23.02). Owen Jelinek ws second in the 400 (51.19), as was Trevin Nelson in the 800 (1:58.58), Ethan Hinderman inthe 3000 (8:59.40) and Nels Trandahl in the mile (4:40.62). 

Stout will close out the indoor season by traveling to the UW-Whitewater Last Chance Meet, Saturday, March 6.
