THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: Sept. 15-21

FOOTBALL

The UW-Stout Blue Devils fell 16-0 to No. 10 ranked Wartburg College Saturday.

Brooks Brewer led the Stout defense with 11 total tackles (5 solo), and an interception (2nd of the season) holding the knights to 16 points (3 FGS) and keeping Wartburg out of the endzone on five red zone attempts. 

Brady Prieve averaged 39.5 yards per punt on 8 punts with a long of 47 yards. Helping flip field position for Stout.

The Blue Devils will travel to St. Paul, Minn. to face the University of Northwestern at 6 p.m. at Reynolds Stadium.

VOLLEYBALL

The Blue Devils went 4-1 last week, sweeping the weekend against Caltech, Macalester, Concordia Moorhead and North Central (MN).

Brooke McCune averaged 4.56 kills a set in five matches to help the Blue Devils go 4-1. She totaled 82 kills (.339 hit%), 39 digs, five aces and four blocks. Against St. Kates she hit .422 with 23 kills and 8 digs. She tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 12 kills (.409 hit%) and 12 digs against Caltech. Against Macalester she set a school record with 29 kills while hitting .543 and adding 7 digs. She added 13 more kills and 7 digs against Concordia Moorhead. 

Kailey Kline averaged 4.53 digs per set in four matches this week. She totaled 68 digs, 20 assists and two aces. She tallied a career-high 26 digs in the win over Concordia Moorhead.

 The Blue Devils will welcome UW-Oshkosh to the Johnson Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Sept. 17 for their home opener. Before heading to Superior, Wis. for four matches Sept. 20-21.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Blue Devils went 2-1 in three matches with week. falling to Edgewood 3-2 before beating Minnesota Morris 2-0 and Bethel University 2-1. 

Freshman goalie Kaitlyn Krengel started all three matches in net for the Blue Devils this week, going 2-1 in her first collegiate action. She saw 20 shots (7 on goal) against Edgewood, making four saves. Earned her first career clean sheet in a 2-0 blanking of Minnesota-Morris. Then made two saves against Bethel, including a diving save on the Royals shot with two seconds left in the game to secure the win for Stout. 

Anna Odisho tallied two goals and an assist, with 8 shots attempted and two on net. At Edgewood Anna had the primary assist on Stout's second goal of the match. She tallied the game winner against Minnesota Morris in the 37th minute. Then scored the first goal in a 2-1 win against Bethel in the 40th minute to etch her name in the scoresheet in all three matches

Stout will travel to St. Paul, Minn. on Wednesday Sept. 17 to face the University of Northwestern at 7 p.m. before heading to St. Joseph, Minn. to take on the College of Saint Benedict on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3:30 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY

After a week off, the blue Devils will travel to Northfield, Minn. to run at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20. 

The men will race at 10 a.m. and the women will follow at 11 a.m. 

The races will be held at the St. Olaf Cross Country Trails. 

TENNIS

The Blue Devils fell 1-6 to UW-Stevens Point and 0-7 to UW-Superior on Saturday.   

The Blue Devils will travel to St. Peter, Minn. to compete at the ITA Regional Championships Sept. 19-21. 

MEN'S SOCCER

The Blue Devils fell to Minnesota-Morris 1-0 and to Ripon College 3-0 over the weekend. 

The Blue Devils will travel to Beloit, Wis. to face Beloit College on Wednesday Sept. 17 for a4:30 p.m. match. Stout will return home on Saturday, Sept. 20 when they host Central College at 4 p.m. on Nelson Field.
