MEN'S ICE HOCKEY
The Blue Devil hockey team went 1-0-1 last weekend, earning five points. They earned a 2-2 draw on the road against Stevens Point, defeating the Pointers 2-0 in the shootout, before returning home to blank the UW-Superior Yellowjackets 2-0.
Freshman netminder Sebastian Monaco made 60 saves (.968 save %, 0.96 GAA). He made 40 saves at UW-Stevens Point to earn a 2-2 tie, then blanked the Pointers in the shootout to pick up the extra point. He then made 20 saves to blank the (RV) UW-Superior Yellowjackets at home to earn his first career shutout, lifting Stout to its first home win over UWS since Dec. 2021 and first home shutout over UWS since Jan. 2015. The only goals he allowed over the weekend were on the power play, stopping 11 shots across 9 opponent PP opportunities.
Stout will play River Falls in a home-and-home series this weekend. The Blue Devils and Falcons will play in River Falls on Friday, December 12, before returning to Fanetti Community Center on Saturday, December 13. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. both nights.
