This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: Oct. 27-Nov. 2

FOOTBALL

The 3-1 Blue Devils moved into a four-way tie for first in WIAC with a 42-22 win over UW-Stevens Point on homecoming. 

Adam Moen accounted for 261 total yards, and three touchdowns. He was 16-23 for 155 yards and a touchdown, while also running for a career-high 106 yards and two more scores. He led scoring drives on four of Stout's five first drives of the game, including a 38-yard pass to Avron Carter.

Dawson Goodman led the Blue Devil defense with 15 total tackles (7 solo). He scored the games first points on a 30-yard pick six, jumping the route and racing in untouched on just the second Pointer possession of the game. He also added a pass break up as the Blue Devil defense held UWSP to just 154 passing yards. 

Jojo James continues to be electric returning kickoffs, He had returns of 40 and 38 yards against the Pointers, setting up the Blue Devils with great field position. He leads the WIAC and is 9th in the country averaging 32.4 yards per return. 

Stout will travel to La Crosse, Wis. to face the 10th ranked Eagles on Saturday, Nov. 1. Kick-off from Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field is set for 1:05 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL

The UW-Stout volleyball team went 3-0 picking up win at home over Hamline (25-18, 24-26, 25-16, 25-18). At No. 8 UW-Whitewater (18-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-16, 15-13) to snap a 40 game losing streak and give Stout their first win over the Warhawks since 1994. And closed out the week with a sweep over Augustana (Ill.)(25-16, 25-21, 25-17).

Emma Barton hit .419 with 31 kills and 15 blocks  (3.67 P/S) in Stout's three wins last week. She hit .500  (9 kills and 5 blocks) in a win over Hamline. Then at #8 Whitewater, She had a career-high 16 kills (.343 Hit%) with nine blocks, including the match sealing kill.  She then hit .545 in a sweep over Augustana (Ill.) (6 kills, 0 errors). 

Kailey Kline averaged 4.33 digs a set as the Blue Devils went 3-0 last week. She totaled 52 digs (4.33 D/S), 15 assists and 5 aces.  She 12 digs and 4 assists in a win over Hamline. Then at #8 Whitewater she totaled 24 digs and six assists. She then added 16 in a sweep over Augustanna.

Lainey Todd had three double-doubles,  averaged 6.52 assists and 2.50 digs per set in the Blue Devils 6-2 offense to help Stout go 3-0 last week. Against Hamline he dished out 28 assists and 10 digs. At #8 Whitewater she had 26 assists and 10 digs.  Then to wrap the weekend she had 25 assists and 10 digs in a sweep over Augustana.

Stout will travel to River Falls, Wis. on Wednesday, Oct. 29 for a 7 p.m. match with the Falcons. 

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Blue Devil women’s soccer team fell 0-1 vs UW-River Falls on Wednesday and 1-3 to UW-Whitewater on Saturday.

The Blue Devils are currently sixth in a tight WIAC playoff race with one WIAC game remaining.

Stout will travel to Duluth, Minn. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m.to face the College of St. Scholastica before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Stevens Point against the Pointers. at 1 p.m. from the UWSP Turf Facility. 

MEN'S SOCCER

The Blue Devil men’s soccer team fell 5-0 at Saint John's on Wednesday and 7-0 to UW-Platteville on Saturday.

The Blue Devils will wrap up the 2025 regular season this week, traveling to Duluth, Minn. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. to face the College of St. Scholastica before wrapping up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 31 when they host UW-River Falls at 7 p.m. at Nelson Field. 

CROSS COUNTRY

The Blue Devil men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the WIAC Championships on Saturday Nov. 1 in Oshkosh, Wis. 

The championship will take place at the Moor Field of Dreams. the men's 8k race will start at 12 p.m. with the women's 6k following at 1 p.m.
