This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: Sept. 29 - Oct. 5

FOOTBALL

After a bye week, the UW-Stout Blue Devils (2-1) are gearing up for a thrilling showdown as they open WIAC play against the undefeated UW-Eau Claire Blugolds (3-0). The annual War on I-94 rivalry game is set for Saturday, October 4, at 1:05 p.m. at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wis.

Stout enters the matchup riding an nine-game winning streak against the Blugolds.

This game marks UW-Eau Claire’s 100th Homecoming celebration. Fans are reminded that Carson Park has implemented a clear bag policy for all attendees.

VOLLEYBALL

The Blue Devils went 3-1 last week, defeating Lawrence 3-1, MSOE 3-0 and Marian 3-2. and falling to Platteville in four sets. 

Brooke McCune averaged 4.44 kills a set in four matches. She totaled 71 kills (.305 hit%), 39 digs, six aces and four blocks. She hit 19 kills and a .455 hitting percentage in a win over Lawrence. She totaled 24 kills in a win over Marian, including seven kills in the decisive 5th set to secure the win. She is 16th in the nation in kills percent with 4.36.

The Blue Devils will welcome UW-Eau Claire to the Johnson Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Oct. 1. First Serve is set for 7 p.m.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

After the weekend off, the Blue Devils return to action with a pair of games at Nelson Field. 

Stout will host Buena Vista University on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. and then will open WIAC play on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they host UW-Platteville for a 3 p.m. kickoff. 

MEN'S SOCCER

After the weekend off, the Blue Devils return to action with a pair of games this week

Stout will host Buena Vista University on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. and then will open WIAC play on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they travel to Eau Claire, Wis. for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Blugolds. 

CROSS COUNTRY

After a week off, the Blue Devil harriers return to action on Friday, Oct. 3. at the Blugold Invite at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis. 

The men's 8k race starts at 4:15 p.m. with the women's 6k race starting a 5:15 p.m.

WOMEN'S GOLF

The Blue Devils will wrap up the UW-Whitewater Fall Invite at TPC Wisconsin today. 

Stout received votes in the latest WGCA coaches poll. 

The Blue Devils will compete in the WIAC Championships on Oct. 3-5 in Reedsburg, Wis. at the Reedsburg Country Club. 

TENNIS

The Blue Devils went 1-2 in three matches with week. falling to Oshkosh 0-7, and Lawrence 1-6 and beat Ripon 7-0. 

Stout will host UW-River Falls on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. on the South Tennis Courts.
