COLFAX, Wis. - The UW-Stout Blue Devil Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed at the NCAA Division III North Regional Championships at Whitetail Golf Course Saturday. The Men's team secured a strong top-10 finish, placing 8th overall, while the Women's team finished 18
th.
The Blue Devil Men's team delivered a commendable performance in the 8-kilometer race, securing 8th place with a total of 277 points. The top-five Blue Devils all finished within 57 seconds of each other, clocking a total time of 2:10:32 and an average time of 26:06. All eight WIAC Schools placed in the top-10.
Julian Van Antwerp led the charge for the Blue Devils, finishing 28th overall with a time of 25:36.4.
Rounding out the scoring five and keeping the team tightly grouped were:
Alex Chartrand in 52nd place (26:03.9),
Mason Aide, 57th place (26:07.9),
John Nehmzow, 60th place (26:10.6), and
Alexander Burmeister, 81st place (26:33.7).
Niko Dayment (97th, 26:56.9) and
Josh Ellerman (107th, 27:15.0) rounded out the top seven for UW-Stout.
The UW-Stout Women's team finished the 6-kilometer championship race in 18th place with 422 points. The Blue Devils were paced by a phenomenal individual effort at the front of the race by
Claudia Lasiowski, who crossed the line in 19th-place finish and a time of 22:34.5.
Arlie Kapaun was the second finisher for Stout, placing 42nd with a time of 23:26.1.
Bryanna Hoffman, 110th place (24:40.6),
Alexys Smith, 115th place (24:47.9), and
Charli Oeltjen, 136th place (25:17.1) rounded out the scoring five.
Jorie Anderson (150th, 25:34.2) and
Madison Jacklitch (158th, 25:57.2) completed the top seven for the Blue Devils. The team finished with a total time of 2:00:46 and an average time of 24:09.
