COLFAX, Wis. - The UW-Stout cross country teams tested themselves against one of the largest and deepest fields of the season Friday morning at the Blugold Invitational, hosted at Whitetail Golf Course. The women's team placed 21st out of 36 teams in the 6K race, while the men competed in a stacked 34-team field in the varsity 8K placing ninth.
Julian Van Antwerp spearheaded the Blue Devil effort, placing 28th in 25:49.5 to lead the Stout men to a ninth place finish in the 8k race that featured several nationally ranked squads.
John Nehmzow placed 51st, in 26:06,
Mason Aide took 57
th with a 26:13.
Alex Chartrand was 79th, (26:31) and
Alexander Burmeister was 91
st with a 26:41 to round out the scoring five.
Kyle Newton placed 115th (26:59.6),
Josh Ellerman was 126th (27:09.7),
Niko Dayment in 127th (27:09.9),
Mateo Meza-Melendez in 140th (27:20.3),
Peter Cimino in 158th (27:44.2),
Joe Huber III in 175th (27:59.6), and
Yahye Mohamed in 249th (29:45.7).
In the men's open 8K,
Westin Fisher led Stout in 41st place with a time of 28:04.4 He was followed by
August Arnold in 61st (28:23.4),
Dalton Anderson in 63rd (28:25.7),
Blake Patterson in 75th (28:46.4), and
Aidan Apa in 96th (29:20.4).
The Blue Devil women finished 21st place in a competitive 36-team varsity field with 553 points.
Claudia Lasiowski paced Stout with an impressive fifth-place finish overall, crossing the line in 22:20.6.
Jessi Salimes was the second Blue Devil to cross the line with a 24:44.3 to place 136
th. Just behind was
Arlie Kapaun (138
th) 24:44.8.
Bryanna Hoffman was 176th, in 25:14.9 and
Alexys Smith placed 180
th in 25:18.8.
Additional finishers for Stout were
Emily Fisher in 198th (25:32.8),
Charli Oeltjen in 222nd (26:05.2), and
Madison Jacklitch in 275th (27:09.1).
In the women's open 6K race,
Cora Sadlack led the Blue Devils with a 48th-place finish in 27:05.0. She was followed by
Teagan McGinty in 56th (27:35.9),
Alena Otto in 60th (27:49.4), and
Madison Wegand in 61st (27:53.2).

The Blue Devils next race will be Saturday Oct. 18 when they travel to Rock Island, Ill. to run at the Augustana Interregional Invite.
