THIS WEEK'S MATCHES: UW-Stout (7-3, 0-0 WIAC) returns Wednesday night to open conference play and will take on UW-La Crosse (7-1, 0-0 WIAC). After a home game every Wednesday night to start off the season, the Blue Devils will hit the road until returning home Oct. 1. It's a slightly lighter schedule this week for the Blue Devils, playing only two games this weekend instead of the normal four, traveling to Bethel University (7-2, 0-0 MIAC) where they will play the Royals and UW-Superior (2-6, 0-0 UMAC), Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Bethel Invitational.

PARKING: Parking on the UW-Stout campus is restricted during the business week. For games in Johnson Fieldhouse during the week, please plan to park in Lot 29. Do not park in Lot 4, which is a reserved lot for students that live in the residence halls.
2021 UW-STOUT BLUE DEVILS: Sidney Hoverman is third in the WIAC in kills, averaging 3.49 kills over 37 sets played. Over the first 10 matches, Hoverman has had double digits kills in eight matches and set a collegiate-best with 21 kills against Grinnell College. Lexie Nelson is second in the league in hitting percentage (.335) and is fourth in the league in assists (7.42). Terrah Moshier is 10th in the conference in digs (3.26). | Statistics
BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: The Blue Devils have been a little up and down this past week, going 3-2, dropping a home game, 3-1, last week to St. Mary's, then, at the UW-Oshkosh Polito's Invitational, Stout blanked Lake Forest, 3-0, to open the tournament, then needed five sets to down Wisconsin Lutheran and Lakeland University, before bowing out to St. Norbert College in four sets. Sidney Hoverman and Lexie Nelson were selected to the all-tournament team. Hoverman led Stout with 51 kills (3.19 k/set) in the tournament, while Nelson averaged 2.29 kills, 6.88 assists and 2.76 digs, while adding five service aces. THE BLUE DEVILS IN 2019: The Blue Devils finished the 2019 season with a 19-11 overall record, 1-6 in the WIAC. The Blue Devils opened the season by winning their first eight matches. Libero Steph Cannon was named the WIAC defensive player of the year and earned third team all-AVCA All-America honors. Then freshman Lydia Kneubuehl was selected as an All-WIAC honorable mention pick. Stout did play three scrimmages in the spring of 2021. | 2019 Statistics
UW-LA CROSSE: The Eagles have lost only one match so far this season, that coming at the hands of 17th ranked University of Northwestern (Minn), last Friday. The Eagles received votes in the Sept. 7 AVCA poll. The Eagles won their first five matches in straight sets before running into Northwestern. They defeated Dubuque, 3-1, Sept. 10 and Augsburg, 3-2, Sept. 11. The Eagles are led on the attach by Emma Lawrence, who is second in the WIAC in kills at 3.78/set. After that it is a balanced attack, with seven players averaging between 1.40 and 1.92 kills. Jackie Oetterer (4.48 a/set) and Megan Adams (4.76 a/set) let the team in assists. Isabelle Jensen leads the league in service aces, racking up 25 over 19 sets for an average of 1.32 aces per set. | 2021 Statistics
LAST TIME THEY MET: UW-La Crosse swept UW-Stout, 3-0, when the teams last met in the final game of the 2019, on Nov. 2, 2019, the only time all season Stout was blanked. The Blue Devils had posted 13 3-0 wins throughout the season, but were never on the receiving end until the final day of the season. The Eagles handed Stout a 25-18, 25-22, 25-20 defeat. Amber Ripley led Stout with 11 kills. Emma Lawrence had a match-high 14 kills for UW-La Crosse. The Eagles had one solo block and 15 assisted blocks. The match marked the final collegiate matches for seniors Steph Cannon, Jessica DuVal, Kara Simonson, Emily Makina, Summer Garr and McKylie Hoff. Cannon finished her career with a school record 2232 career digs. This season she came up just short of breaking her own single season digs record, finishing with 668 digs. BETHEL UNIVERSITY: The Royals went 3-1 at the Carthage College Invitational last weekend, downing UW-Platteville (3-0), Carthage College (3-2), and MSOE (3-1), but fell to UW-Whitewater (3-1). Bethel's only other loss came at the hands of nationally-ranked Northwestern (Minn), a 3-2 decision. Kirsten Cotter averages 3.0 k/set, with Danielle Friedges averaging 2.85 kills, Allie Fauth 2.97 and Emily Rossing 2.83. Hannah Wilhite is the primary setter, averaging 9.55 assists per set. | Statistics

UW-SUPERIOR: The Yellowjackets hosted their annual Subway Stinger Classic, and went 2-2 at the event, downing Northland and Concordia-Moorhead by 3-2 scores. The 'Jackets were upended by Macalester College, 3-2, one of Stout's opponents next weekend. Alexie Pryd is averaging 2.95 kills and Maina Stark 2.36 kills. | Statistics
LAST TIME THEY MET: Three UW-Stout players led a balanced attack as the Blue Devils defeated UW-Superior, 3-0, Oct. 1, 2019, at Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils had three players tally eight kills – Lexie Nelson, Amber Ripley and Kara Simonson – as Stout put down 44 kills to the Yellowjackets' 27 in the 25-14, 25-17, 25-20 win. The Yellowjackets made it a match in the third set, leading Stout throughout much of the early part of the set and the teams had eight tied scores. Stout pulled away with the score tied at 20, aided by a couple of Yellowjacket errors and kills by Nelson and middle hitter Lydia Kneubuehl. The Blue Devils clogged up the net, getting a solo block by Kneubuehl and 10 assists blocks, with McKylie Hoff throwing up three and Nelson, Kneubuehl and Tori Lammar posting two each. UW-STOUT COACH MANDY TRAUTMANN: Coach Mandy Trautmann (42-27) is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Blue Devils in 2021. In her first season as head coach in 2018, Trautmann led the Blue Devils to a home WIAC playoff berth, the first for the Blue Devils since 2004. Trautmann took over the Blue Devils after a season as an assistant coach. Prior to coming to Stout, Trautmann was the team captain for UW-Oshkosh in 2015, a season the Titans captured the WIAC regular season championship. Trautmann was a two-time first team all-WIAC selection in 2014 and 2015, and an honorable mention choice in 2013. She was named to the all-WIAC defensive team in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
