THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Blue Devils (4-0-1, 0-0-0 WIAC) will host UW-Superior (2-2-0, 0-0-0 UMAC), Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. and Macalester College (2-0-1, 0-0-0 MIAC), Saturday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. to end a five-game homestand. The Blue Devils will be at the University of Minnesota-Morris, (0-4-0, 0-0-0 UMAC) Sunday, Sept. 19.

PARKING: Parking on the UW-Stout campus is restricted during the business week. For games at Nelson Field during the week, please plan to park in Lot 29, which is located adjacent to Nelson Field. Do not park in Lot 4, which is a reserved lot for students that live in the residence halls.
PETS: While service animals are allowed, no pets are allowed at UW-Stout athletic events.
A LOOK AT THE 2021 BLUE DEVILS: Senior forward Marissa Steele was named the WIAC/Kwik Trip soccer athlete of the week after scoring game-winning goals over St. Scholastica and Cornell College. Stout got goals from Steele, Lexi Boyd and Carly Kauffman in the 3-0 win over Scholastica, and assists by Liv Winkler, Whitley Carothers and Remy Soulak. Kauffman assisted Steele on Sunday against Cornell. Steele, Winkler and Lexi Boyd have each scored two goals this season, with Kauffman, Hailey Kane and Soulak with a goal apiece. Kauffman has two assists, as does Caylee Boone. Kane, Soulak, Carothers and Lauren Chukel each have an assist. Haley Vokaty, after missing the first two games, has started the last three and has a record of 2-0-1, with both wins shutouts. The only goal allowed by the team so far this year was a penalty kick in the Carleton College, 1-1, tie, Sept. 7. Vokaty has a goals against average (GAA) of 0.33 and has made six saves. THE BLUE DEVILS PREVIEW: The Blue Devils will need to replace the vast majority of their top scorers from 2019, with Marissa Steele the only Blue Devil returning with more than two points after scoring two goals - of which both were game-winners - and an assist. The Blue Devils come into the season with a huge squad - with 34 on the roster at the start of training. camp. But of those 34, eight have seen collegiate action and only seven have scored at least one collegiate point. Steele leads the way in career points, scoring five goals and four assists for 14 points. Caylee Boone scored a goal during her first season as a Blue Devils and Rachel Younker scored a goal in her lone season. Lexie Wescott and Whitney Carothers have scored an assist. Defender Mekenzie Bisel has played two full years, playing 14 games with St. Mary's University in 2018, before transferring to Stout in 2019 where she played in all 18 games, joining Carothers and Washington as the only players to play in every game that season. Julie McNamar did not play a countable game for Stout before this year, but played the two opening games in net for the Blue Devils. McNamar did play nine games for the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in 2019. The Blue Devils finished with five wins in 2019, and three of those wins were shutouts.
THE BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: Cornell College camped in UW-Stout's defensive zone in the first half, but that turned around in the second half as the Blue Devils went on to capture their fourth shutout of the season with a 1-0 win Sunday at Nelson Field. While the shots were even in the first half, the tide shifted in the second half with a more aggressive Blue Devlis (4-0-1) attack that gave Stout a 9-2 advantage in the second half, including the only goal of the game. Carly Kauffman moved the ball around and found Marissa Steele, who buried the shot from on top of the box in the 69th minute. The Rams tested Stout's Haley Vokaty in the first half, forcing the freshman to make four first half saves, but none in the second half. Stout out-shot Cornell, 15-8 overall and 9-4 on net. Vokaty earned her second win and her second shutout. Rachel Younker came off the bench to pressure Cornell goalkeeper Elise Thomason-Larsen with five shots on net and six overall shots. A LOOK AT UW-SUPERIOR: The Yellowjackets waited until the final minute - literally - of double overtime to grab a win over Edgewood College Sunday afternoon when Niya Wilson scored with 45 seconds left to play for a 2-1 win. Edgewood took the early lead in the game, scoring in the third minute. The 'Jackets' Claire Smith scored in the 22nd minute of the game to knot the score. Jenna Lang earned the win for the Yellowjackets, coming on to start the second half and made seven saves. Wilson leads Superior in scoring, tallying four of the team's six total goals. THE LAST TIME SUPERIOR AND STOUT MET: UW-Stout got back on the winning track by taking a 1-0 win at UW-Superior Oct. 1, 2019. After a scoreless first half, Marissa Steele put the Blue Devils on the board when she took a cross from Sammy Krugel and put the ball into the high center of the net. The Blue Devils out-shot Superior on net 16-2. Superior goalie Morgan Philliber recorded 15 saves, while Stout's Claudia Anderson recorded two saves. Overall, the Blue Devils out-shot the Yellowjackets 23-3. Stout put eight shots on frame in each stanza.in the 63rd minute with an assist by Kuchta. It was Steele's first goal of the season. A LOOK AT MACALESTER COLLEGE: Julia Kispert has scored four goals and added an assist through the Scots' first three games. Alice Bieda has a pair of goals and four players have scored a goal each. Macalester outscored their first three opponents, 10-2. Macalester opened the season with a 2-2, double overtime non-conference tie with Carleton College, the only goals they gave up over the first three games. THE LAST TIME MACALESTER AND STOUT MET: Ryanne Millis beat the goalie to the ball and scored the only goal of the game and the UW-Stout defense snuffed out any attempts by Macalester College as the Blue Devils defeated the Scots, 1-0, Oct. 18, 2017, at Nelson Field. With the Macalester goalie coming out, Millis got to the loose ball, dribbled around the goalie and delivered the shot - her second goal of the season - in the 76th minute to lift Stout to their first home win of the season. Stout had previously played to five tied scores at Nelson Field. The Blue Devil team defense was solid this cool, breezy fall evening, holding the Scots to only four shots on the night and three shots on goal.
Stout's offense delivered 11 overall shots and the majority were on target, finishing with nine shots on net. The Scots' Rachel Wilson-King stopped eight shots. Stout's Lynn Johnson recorded three saves to get her second consecutive shutout and her fourth on the season. | Game Story and Stats

THE LAST TIME MORRIS AND STOUT MET: UW-Stout closed out the "home" portion of their schedule by marking Senior Day as the Blue Devils played their final non-conference game of the season against the University of Minnesota-Morris Sunday at Ramer Field on the UW-River Falls campus. And all of the scoring came from seniors Oct. 27, 2019, as the Blue Devils defeated the Cougars, 2-0, With renovations on the Nelson Field Complex underway this fall, Ramer Field became the Blue Devils' home-away-from-home this season. Seniors Sarah Dickmann, Hannah Kirchner and Bella Pedlar were recognized before the game with the Cougars. And the senior captains wasted no time leaving their marks on this game. Dickmann, who has played defense most of the season, moved up to midfield and got a breakaway and went straight up the middle to notch her first goal of the season in the sixth minute. Pedlar also scored her first goal of the season, scoring in the 42nd minutes and punched a left-footed shot into the right upper corner of the net to make the score 2-0. Stout out-shot Morris 21-7 overall on the afternoon and put eight shots on net. Stout's Claudia Anderson had a relatively quiet afternoon, recording two saves for her third shutout of the season. UW-STOUT COACH RYAN RAUFUS: Coach Ryan Raufus (64-85-20) is in his 11th year as the head coach of the Blue Devils in 2021. Raufus played his college ball at Springfield College in Massachusetts and came to Stout after coaching at La Crosse Logan High School and La Crescent, Minn., High School.
TWENTY-FIVE-PLUS YEARS OF BLUE DEVIL SOCCER: After many years as a club sport, UW-Stout became the ninth WIAC team to join the varsity ranks during the 1995 season. The Blue Devils took their lumps to open the season, making their premiere by hosting Augsburg College, Sept. 10, in a 7-0 loss. Stout opened the conference season three days later at Nelson Field, hosting perennial conference powerhouse UW-Stevens Point, dropping a 6-0 decision. The Blue Devils finally broke onto the scoreboard in their third game. While hosting UW-Platteville, Sept. 17, Kari Stapleton scored in the 70th minute on an assist from Jenny Tyson in a 2-1 loss. The Blue Devils would get their first-ever win, a 3-0 decision at Martin Luther College, Sept. 23, collecting goals from Amie Frasier, Tyson and Joann Sognesand. Defender Andrea Schroeder was a second team all-conference selection in 1995, then was selected to the first team in 1996. Members of that first 1995 team include: April Amys, Beeta Bastani, Tammy Beuch, Carrie Blaska, Jen Chapple, Michelle Coon, Amie Frasier, Aimee Grimm, Jamie Jester, Julie Kremer, Dorian Loberg, Amy Lyons, Kristin Manion, Angela McDowell, Andrea Schroeder, Joann Sognesand, Kari Stapleton, Jenny Tyson, Alisa Zimmerman.
