Stout smashed out 28 hits in the 7-inning doubleheader series. Stout advanced to the NAIA Tournament, going to the NAIA World Series, while Oshkosh advanced to the NCAA Tournament that season, and went to the NCAA World Series. The Blue Devils and the Titans were scheduled to face each other in 1982, but that tournament was rained out and the teams were declared co-champions. Stout shared the 1961 championship with UW-Stevens Point. Stout won a conference title in 1947.
