Zastrow gains new heights, now owns both indoor and outdoor pole vault records

RIVER FALLS (April 10, 2021) - Noah Zastrow now owns UW-Stout's indoor and outdoor pole vault records.

The Blue Devil senior broke the UW-Stout pole vault record by a half-inch as Zastrow led a 1-2-3 sweep of the pole vault at  the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational Saturday.
 
Zastrow edged out Daniel Drewek's 10-year-old school record with a jump of 17-feet, 5.50-inches. Zastrow passed until 16-feet, 4.75-inches and missed on his first attempt. It wasn't until Zastrow attempted 17-9.75 that he missed again.
 
Sophomore Hawkin Petron was second (14-7.25) in the pole vaul and junior Jacob Tomazevic was third (14-1.75) to complete the sweep. Jacob Backes was fifth (13-5.75). 
 
Brent Heilman captured first in the 100-meter dash. Mackenson Steinberg finished fifth (11.46). Carter Wente was first in the 110-hurdles with a time of 15.87. Noah Beck was third (15.57).
 
Jacob Bugella kept his winning streak alive by winning the hammer throw in a distance of 189-6.

Jack Roeber won the long jump with a career-best mark of 21-11.75. 
 
The 4x100-relay team of Steinberg, Wente, Heilman and Lucas Carroll finished first with a time of 42.12.

Stout will be at the Ashton May/Phil Eston Challenge Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17.
