Heptathlon Results
STEVENS POINT (February 25, 2021) - Several UW-Stout athletes got their chance to compete in their first multi-event meet and distance runners competed against some of the top 5000-meter runners in the WIAC at the UW-Stevens Point Multi Thursday.
Freshmen
Hayden Zachgo and
Brandon Dick saw their first multi-event competition, joining sophomore
Mason Barth in the heptathlon.
Barth led Stout contingent with an eighth place finish with a personal-best mark of 4569 points. Dick finished 12th with 4013 points and Zachgo was 13th with 3949 points.
In the 18-person field, Barth was second in the 60-hurdles (8.72-seconds), third in the pole vault (13-11.25), seventh in the long jump (20-9), 15th in the shot put (30-9.75), fourth in the 1000-meter (2:56.21), 14th in the 60-meter (7.63) and ninth in the high jump.
Dick was 16th in the 60 (7.72), second in the 1000 (2:54.39), 14th in the hurdles (10.10), fifth in the high jump (6-0.75), 14th in the pole vault (9-8)11th in the long jump (19-10.25) and 10th in the shot put (34-5.75).
Zachgo was 10th in the 60 (7.51), 14th in the 1000 (3:08.31), eighth in the hurdles (9.19(, ninth in the long jump (20-2.25), 16th in the shot put (30-4.75), 15th in the high jump (5-3.25) and 12th in the pole vault (10-8).
A day earlier, freshman Hannah Zastrow competed in the women's pentathlon, finishing fifth, but setting a Stout freshman record with 3281 points.
In the 5K Elite race,
Spencer Schultz finished second with a time 14-minutes, 59.38-seconds, more than a minute under his previous best time.
Matthew Ryan placed 11th, clocking a time of 15:27.49 and
Brian Mathews was 13th in a time of 15:45.37.
On the women's side, Molly Perkins placed sixth in the 5K in a time of 18:22.37.
Stout will be at UW-River Falls, Saturday, Feb. 27.
