Hannah Zastrow broke the seven-year-old school 60-meter hurdles record in the preliminary race of the event, then about an hour later broke her own school record in winning the finals of the event in a dual meet with UW-Eau Claire.
Zastrow broke Meagan Ward's 2014 record in the preliminaries with a time of 8.96 seconds, then shaved off one-hundredth of a second to pace the field. Eau Claire's Megan Wallace was second at 9.18 and Stout's
Caitlin Harrison was third (9.52).
The Blue Devils also got stellar performances from
Mackenzie Huber in the throws,
Kiley Lehman in the 400-meter,
Sydney Reisner in the 800m and
Jenna Driscoll in the long jump.
Huber finished first in the shot put and second in the weight throw. Huber led the way in the shot put with a mark of 45-feet, 0.50-inches, only seven inches short of her personal best. The sophomore finished runner-up in the weight throw with a mark of 50-0.50.
Payton Schneider was third in the weight throw (45-0.50) and
Leah Zemke had a pair of fifth place finishes in the shot put (36-6.25) and weight throw (39-7.25). Zemke's shot put mark was a career-high.
Lehman shaved a second-and-a-half off her career-best in winning the 400m. Lemke led the field with a 1:02.06.
Reisner topped the 800 run in a time of 2:22.41, more than two seconds off her personal-best. Driscoll finished third in the long jump with a mark of 16-6.50, a mark that puts her fifth on the all-time freshman list.
The Blugolds outdueled Stout, 91-51. Stout will host UW-La Crosse, Saturday, February 20 at 11 a.m. in the teams' final home meet of the season.
