USTFCCCA release
MENOMONIE (November 18, 2019)Â - Four UW-Stout cross country runners were named All-Midwest Region by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Three men and one womann were selected to the honor squad.
On the men's side,
Spencer Schultz (So, Rosemount, Minn),
Mike Friedman (Sr, Oconto Falls) and
Michael Fifield (Sr, Oconto Falls) were chosen while
Brittany Staab (Sr, St. Paul, Minn) was selected for the second consecutive year.Â
To receive all-region honors, the student-athlete must have finished in the top 35 of their respective regional. Stout competed at the Midwest Regional Saturday, Nov. 16 at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne where the men finished fifth and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship this Saturday, Nov. 23 in Louisville, Ky. The women finished 14th at the regional.
Three on the men's side ties the most ever. The Stout men had three all-region selections last year.
A total of 280 men and 280 women from 155 different institutions earned the distinction by finishing among the top-35 runners at one of eight regional sites across the country. The WIACÂ had 29 recipients.Â
