ST. PAUL, Minn. (February 3, 2018) - UW-Stout's
Sam Elsner broke the school indoor shot put record by almost two feet. Elsner threw the shot put 57-feet, 11.75-inches, breaking All-American Jason Lehman's 1998 mark of 56-0. Elsner, along with a number of Blue Devil throwers competed at Minnesota State, Mankato.
Anton Proksch was fourth (50-8) in the shot put. Proksch finished ninth in the weight throw (52-7.50). For the Stout women's throwers, Kayla Pabst was fourth in the weight throw (52-6.50).

At the Bethel University Gene Glader Invitational,
Noah Zastrow won the pole vault with a freshman record mark of 15-feet, 1-inch. Junior
Josh Freyholtz finished second (15-5),
Jack Kolar was fifth (13-5.25),
Brenden Buryska was sixth (12-11.50), and Aric Varani was eighth (12-11.50).
Brent Hielman took a pair of third place finishes, capturing thirds in the 60m and the 200m.
Sprints
Middle distances
- In an event the Blue Devils do not run often, Seth Plenge won the 600m (1:31.13), Dillon Keller ws third (1:32.31) and Jude Pelowski was fourth (1:36.12).
- Nick Wilkerson placed sixth in the 800m (2:07.29).
- Joe Van Grinsven was third of 23 runners in the mile run (4:34.30).
Jumps
- Isaac Lee finished first in the triple jump (41-2.25)
Throws
- Kevin Ruechel and Alec Benzinger finished first and second, respectively, in the shot put. Ruechel tossed the shot 44-11.75 and Benzinger 44-11.50.
- Benzinger topped Ruechel in the weight throw finishing fourth (44-0) to Ruechel's fifth (43-10). Jacob Bugella was 12th (33-11).

On the women's side, Nikki Nelson won the 60m (8.01), Heather Beecher won the pole vault (10-11) as Stout took the top five marks. Emma Wittliff won the shot put (39-1) as Stout swept the top four spots.
