OSHKOSH (September 2, 2017) - Operation rebound and recovery was barely underway Saturday for the UW-Stout women's golf team when bad weather stepped in and forced postponed play until Sunday.
Five of the six Blue Devils golfers were through five holes and another was through four when the horns sounded to suspend play around 3 p.m., just about two hours into the first round. Golfers will finish the opening round starting at 8 a.m. Sunday with the final round to follow.
"The last two holes were played in an absolute downpour," Stout coach
Howie Samb said.
To that point, though, his golfers were grinding admirably despite the elements in their bid to rid themselves of the sour taste left by Friday's 345 team score at UW-River Falls.
No. 5 golfer
Haley Seifert, who shot 99 on Friday, triple-bogeyed her first hole Saturday and then bounced back with two pars and two birdies. She was 1-over after five holes as was No. 2 golfer
Marie Allo, who struggled to an 89 on Friday at River Falls CC.
Co-captains
Madison McCambridge and
Rachel Hernandez were both 3-over. McCambridge had finished five holes and Hernandez four, making a double-bogey on the par-5 third as the rain started to intensify.
Sophomores
Alexa Filipiak and
Trystin Kluess were both 6-over through five holes. Kluess is competing this weekend as an individual.
