Meier breaks school record in alumni season opener

UW-Stout/UW-River Falls Dual / Alumni Meet results

MENOMONIE (January 16, 2016) - The Blue Devil track and field women came into their alumni season opener swinging this Saturday. It is the first meet of the year and already a school record has been broken. Junior Lydia Meier has made school history after her 59 feet 5 inch weight throw. Marci Schachtner set the previous school record of 59-2.75 back in 2005.

Alex Titterud finished first in the 200 meter run with a time of 27.16. She also did well in the 60 meter run after posting a time of 8.20 and placing second.

Stephanie Pladies emerged into her collegiate career with a first place finish. The freshman posted a 1.58 meters that earned her the top spot in the high jump.

Overall Stout had an impressive start to their season. The Blue Devils had the edge over River Falls in majority of the events.  They are expecting a very successful season and even more school records to be broken. The Blue Devils will be hosting the UW-Stout Open on Saturday January 23 at 12 p.m.
