Gymnatics Preview: Senior Night highlights final home gymnastics meet

THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION: The Blue Devils will host their final home meet of the season, Friday, Feb. 14 when they will entertain Gustavus Adlophus College at 6 p.m. It will be the last home meet for seven Blue Devil seniors – Brittany DeZiel, Kristen Barra, Kim Gulik, Kaitlynn Christensen, Ashley Nelson, Liz Peters, and Kayla Widmar.

THE BLUE DEVILS: The 2014 Blue Devil squad was scheduled to return all five performers who advanced to the NCGA Championship last spring, but an injury just before the start of the competitive season has taken three-time All-American Brittany DeZiel out for the season. Stout returns senior Kaitlynn Christensen, junior Katherine Prouty and sophomores Sara Perez and Randi Schorzman. DeZiel and Schorzman returned home with All-America honors, Schorzman on the balance beam.  As a team, the Blue Devils have improved their team scores every time out, starting off with a 176.925 in their season opener, Jan. 11, and in their third outing nearly broke 180, tallying a 179.600 at UW-Whitewater. Stout has broken 180 their last three meets, scoring a 180.550 at home, Jan. 28, then jumped up nearly two points four days later when they won their first dual meet of the season, 182.325-180.425, at Hamline University, Jan. 31. Stout won the John Zuerlein Invitational with a season=best 183.550. Prouty is posting Stout's top scores on the vault (9.575) and the balance beam (9.300). Perez, who advanced to the NCGA Championship last spring, leads Stout on the uneven bars (9.375). Jondahl leads Stout on the floor exercise (9575). Christensen, who advanced to the national meet last year, is posting Stout's second best scores on the beam (9.250) and floor (9.525).  | 2014 Season Stats
