MENOMONIE, Wis. – The UW-Stout gymnastics team delivered a strong performance at home Friday night, placing second in a tightly contested tri-meet against Simpson and Gustavus Adolphus inside Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils finished with a team score of 188.550, just 0.325 points behind meet winner Simpson College (188.875), while Gustavus Adolphus College placed third at 182.175.
UW-Stout opened the meet on vault with a 47.575 team total, highlighted by Jessica Qualich's event-winning 9.725. Kendra Henige followed with a 9.575, while Jaidyn Carroll added a 9.550 to round out the top scores for the Blue Devils.
On uneven bars, UW-Stout posted a 45.975, led by Sarah Lutz, who claimed the individual title with a season-best 9.750. Jamie Beatty was close behind in second with a 9.700, and Katelyn Jossie chipped in a solid 9.075.
The Blue Devils responded with their best event of the night on balance beam, recording a meet-best 47.650. Julia Rhoades led the way with a 9.675, finishing second overall, while Cora Cardellino (9.575), Jamie Beatty (9.550), and Reesi Williams (9.525) all placed among the top six in the event.
UW-Stout closed the meet on floor exercise with a 47.350. Jamie Beatty again paced the lineup with a 9.525, finishing fifth overall, while Sarah Lutz and Kaylie Kassing tied with matching 9.475 routines. Jessica Qualich added a 9.450 to help keep the Blue Devils within striking distance down the stretch.
The Blue Devils will travel to Oshkosh, Wis. next Friday, Feb. 27 fo a dual meet with the Titans.
