Gymnasts edge past Winona State

Naomi DeLara captures first in her three events

UW-Stout 182.20, Winona State 181.975

WINONA, Minn (February 21, 2011) - UW-Stout edged past Winona State, 182.20-181.975, as Stout's Naomi DeLara (Sr, Kahului, Hawai'i) took first in three events Monday at McCown Gym.

DeLara took the top spots in the vault (9.550), the balance beam (9.70) and the floor exercise (9.675).

Stout freshman Colleen Seegers (Oconomowoc) came back from an early season injury to snag a pair of second place finishes, Seegers was second on the uneven bars (9.375) and balance beam (9.425).

Winona's Anna Gleason captured the all-around (35.925) and Stout's Brittany DeZiel (Fr, Rogers, Minn) was second (35.775).

Jenna Lensing (So, Little Canada, Minn) was fourth on the uneven bars (9.05) and in the all-around (35.475). Kaitlynn Christensen (Fr, Ottawa, Ill) was fourth on the floor exercise (9.35).

Stout will be at Boise State, Friday, Feb. 25, then will host Hamline University, Friday, March 4 at 6 p.m.
