Gymnasts up score for third straight meet

MENOMONIE (January 29, 2011) - For the third consecutive meet, UW-Stout improved on their score, raising their score by almost one point over their last time out two weeks ago.

The Blue Devils (3-2) lost to UW-Whitewater, 180.025-178.50, in their first dual meet of the season. Stout had participated in two triangulars during their first two meets.

Stout took first in all four individual events and Naomi DeLara (Sr, Kahului, Hawaii) won or tied for first in three events, the vault (9.425),  the floor exercise (9.575) and and the balance beam (9.125) where she ttied with teammate Kaitlynn Christensen (Fr, Ottawa, Ill).  Jenna Lensing (So, Little Canada, Minn) tied for first on the uneven bars (9.10).

Christensen, who joined the team at semester, was making her first appearance of the season..

Brittany DeZiel (Fr, Rogers, Minn), who was coming off an injury suffered after the first meet of the season, finished third on the uneven bars (9.00).

Cora Bagoli (Fr, Nashville, Tenn) was fourth on the vault (9.25), as was Genna Boeckmann (So, St. Cloud, Minn) on the uneven bars (8.925) and Heather Harmeyer (Jr, Milwaukee) on the balance beam (9.00).  Harmeyer was third in the all-around (34.275).

Stout returns to action Friday, Feb. 4 when they compete at the Gershon Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse.
