MENOMONIE – University of Wisconsin-Stout Director of Athletics
Erin Sullivan has named
Tom Webb as the 17th head coach in the history of the Blue Devil men's basketball program. Webb takes over the program after serving as interim head coach during the 2025-26 season.
"Tom has demonstrated strong leadership, a deep commitment to our student-athletes, and a clear vision for the future of our program," Director of Athletics
Erin Sullivan said. "We are excited to officially name him as our head coach and continue building on the progress made this past season."
During the 2025-26 campaign, Webb guided the Blue Devils to a 9-17 overall record and a 5-9 mark in WIAC play, earning a berth in the WIAC Tournament for just the second time since the 2012-13 season. Stout's defensive identity emerged as a strength, ranking 88
th nationally in scoring defense (70.3 points allowed per game) and 52
nd in the nation in blocks per game (4.0).
The Blue Devils recorded several signature wins, including a 66-58 road upset of No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan, an 83-67 home victory over No. 11 UW-Stevens Point, and a 78-77 road win against No. 16 UW-Oshkosh.
Individually, junior guard
Collin Vick earned All-WIAC Defensive Team honors and was named All-WIAC Honorable Mention. Vick led the conference in total assists (108), assists per game (4.2), and steals per game (2.0), while also pulling down 209 rebounds.
Aidan Shore was also named to the All-WIAC Defensive Team after leading the conference and ranking 17th nationally with 61 blocked shots (2.44 per game).
AJ Uttech received All-WIAC Honorable Mention recognition. Uttech averaged 11.3 points per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor.
Webb has been a key figure in the UW-Stout program since 2018, contributing to a steady upward trajectory. In 2023-24, the Blue Devils more than doubled their win total from the previous season, finishing 12-17 and advancing to the WIAC Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2012-13. That season was highlighted by Brody Fox earning All-American honors after leading the nation in field goals made and ranking second in total points with a school-record 719.
In 2021-22, Webb helped guide the Blue Devils to a 16-9 record and a home WIAC Tournament game, the program's first since 2012-13. UW-Stout has also produced multiple All-WIAC selections, defensive standouts, and record-setting offensive performances during his tenure on staff.
Prior to UW-Stout, Webb spent seven seasons (2011-18) as an assistant coach at Rochester College (now Rochester Christian University), where he helped the program compile a 175-56 record. During his time there, the Warriors won two USCAA Division I national titles (2012-13, 2017-18) and consistently ranked among the top teams in the NAIA. Webb played an integral role in recruiting and developing 12 all-conference players and five NAIA All-Americans, with several student-athletes advancing to professional careers overseas.
Webb also served as an assistant coach at Purdue University Northwest from 2009-11, where he focused on recruiting, player development, and scouting.
A former four-year player at Rochester College, Webb helped lead the program to four 20-win seasons and four consecutive USCAA national tournament appearances. He served as team captain during his senior season, guiding the Warriors to a national runner-up finish.
"I would like to thank Chancellor Katherine Frank, Athletic Director
Erin Sullivan, and the search committee for the opportunity to continue leading and restoring Blue Devil Basketball. My family and I are incredibly excited to remain part of UW-Stout, the Menomonie community, and the future of this program."
A Michigan native, Webb earned his bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences from Rochester College in 2009 and completed his master's degree in human resources development from UW-Stout in 2025. He and his wife, Amy, and their sons, Tanner and Paxton, reside in Menomonie.
