Tom Webb has announced the hiring of
Aaron Houle as assistant men's basketball coach.
Houle joins the Blue Devils after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Concordia University, St. Paul, where he helped guide the Golden Bears through the most successful stretch in program history.
"When we began this search, we wanted to find someone who could help us continue building a championship-caliber program while embracing the culture and values of Blue Devil Basketball, Aaron checked every box," Head Coach
Tom Webb said. "He is an outstanding coach and mentor who has gained valuable experience at Concordia–St. Paul, UMary, and WLC, but what makes this hire even more special is that Aaron is a Northwest Wisconsin product. He understands this region, he values relationships, and he is passionate about helping young people grow. Aaron will have a major impact on our players and our program, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome Aaron, Alison, and his two children back home."
During his tenure, Concordia posted back-to-back 19-win seasons for the first time in school history. The Golden Bears captured their first-ever NSIC regular season championship, earned the program's first NCAA Tournament berth, and recorded its first NCAA Tournament victory. In 2024-25, Concordia set program records for regular season wins, conference wins and single-season winning percentage.
Houle was part of a coaching staff that earned NSIC Coach of the Year honors while helping develop the program's first NSIC Player of the Year, first Central Region Player of the Year and first NABC All-American.
Prior to Concordia, Houle served as an assistant coach at the University of Mary. While with the Marauders, he helped develop multiple players who went on to play professionally, including in the NBA G League. In addition to his on-court responsibilities, he coordinated the program's travel logistics and budget and managed the team's social media content. During his time at Mary, the program recorded its first victory over a nationally ranked opponent and its first road win at Winona State.
Before joining the University of Mary, Houle spent time at Wisconsin Lutheran College, helping lead the Warriors to both the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) regular season and tournament championships, including the program's first conference tournament title in 15 years. He assisted in the development of three All-NACC selections, including the conference Freshman of the Year and the Central Region Rookie of the Year, and was part of a coaching staff that was named NACC Coaching Staff of the Year.
A native of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Houle played four seasons at Northland College, where he was a four-year letterwinner, team captain and UMAC All-Academic selection. Houle earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Northland College in 2020 and completed a master's degree in athletic administration and physical education from the University of Mary in 2024.
