This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: March 9-15

MEN'S ICE HOCKEY

The Blue Devil hockey team defeated UW-River Falls 5-4 in the WIAC Men's Ice Hockey Tournament/Commissioner's Cup (Presented by Culver's) championship game. This victory secured the program's first tournament win and earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Kullan Daikawa's goal with 7:16 remaining gave Stout a 5-1 lead, and Stout held off a Falcon comeback. Sebastian Monaco made 24 saves in the win.

Stout will host Anna Maria in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 14. Puck drop at the Fanetti Community Center is set for 7 p.m.

TRACK & FIELD

The Blue Devil Track and Field team has qualified six athletes for the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship. 

Leah Zastrow and Raegan Sorensen qualified in the women's pole vault, with Zastrow owning the top mark in the country. 

Braden Krystosek and Sam Knox qualified in the men's pole vault. 

Karter Rashke qualified in the men's shot put, and Casey Thomas qualified in the men's 60-meter hurdles. 

The Indoor National Championship meet will be held March 13-14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.

SOFTBALL

After a week off, the Blue Devils will travel to Clermont, Fla., for their annual spring break trip. Stout will play 12 games in seven days while in the sunshine state.

The Blue Devils will face Ohio Northern and Thomas College on Friday, March 13. Western New England and Calvin on Saturday, March 14, and Framingham State and McDaniel College on Sunday, March 15.

LACROSSE

The Blue Devil lacrosse team swept a pair of games in Iowa this weekend. 

Stout defeated Mount Mercy 25-2 and Saint Ambrose 15-8, improving to 3-1 on the season.

 Mai Nou Vang led the charge, scoring 10 goals and adding six assists for a total of 16 points on 15 shots. She also contributed 12 ground balls and 16 draw controls.

The team will host UW-Eau Claire in their home opener on Wednesday, March 11, at 6 p.m. at Nelson Field. Stout will then travel to Mequon, Wis., to face Concordia Wisconsin on Friday, March 13, before heading to Angola, Indiana, for a game with Trine on Sunday, March 15.

BASEBALL

After a week off, the Blue Devil baseball team will head to sunny Florida for their spring break trip. 

Stout will face Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, March 14, and Franklin & Marshall College on Sunday, March 15.
