This Week in Blue Devils Athletics: Feb. 9-15

THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: FEB. 9-15

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils fell to No. 22 Stevens Point 51-63 last Wednesday and to UW-Whitewater on a last-second buzzer-beater, 78-77.

AJ Uttech is averaging 16 points per game while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor, adding 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. He scored 18 points against UWW, 13 of which came in the second half as Stout erased a 16-point deficit.

Collin Vick recorded his fourth straight game with 10+ rebounds.

Aiden Shore ranks 14th nationally with 49 blocked shots.

Up next, Stout travels to La Crosse, Wis. on Wednesday, February 11 for a 7:05 p.m. tip-off against the Eagles. The Blue Devils return home on Saturday, February 14 to host UW-Oshkosh in the Johnson Fieldhouse at 3:05 p.m. for Senior Day.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Freshman guard Addy Verhagen led the Blue Devils to a 1-1 week, averaging a team-high 15.5 points per game while playing over 37 minutes per contest. Verhagen scored 13 points against UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 4, adding assists, a block, and a steal. She followed with a standout performance in Stout’s 66-53 road win at #9 UW-Whitewater on Feb. 7, finishing with 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. She added five rebounds, four assists, and two steals while helping hold the Warhawks to 29.8 percent shooting for the game and just 3 made field goals in the second half. For the week, Verhagen shot 45.5 percent from three-point range and 100 percent from the free-throw line (8-for-8), while averaging 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

Next up, Stout hosts UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7:05 p.m. in the Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils then travel to Oshkosh on Saturday, Feb. 14, for a 3:05 p.m. tip-off against the #3 Titans.

MEN'S ICE HOCKEY

The 15th-ranked Blue Devil hockey team swept a weekend series against UW-Superior, winning 4-2 and 3-0. 
Sebastian Monaco made 58 saves with a .967 save percentage to lead the Blue Devils to a weekend and season sweep over UW-Superior, the first season sweep over Superior since 2000-01 and the first 3-game sweep of the Yellowjackets in school history. Monaco made 24 saves in a 4-2 win on Friday and then posted a 34-save shutout on Saturday to keep Stout in contention for the WIAC title.

The Blue Devils will host UW-Eau Claire in the regular season finale this weekend, February 13-14. Stout trails the Blugolds by 2 points in the WIAC standings. A sweep will give Stout its first WIAC title since 2011 and first outright WIAC crown in school history. Puck drop at Fanetti Community Center is set for 7 p.m. both nights.

GYMNASTICS

The Blue Devil gymnastics team dropped a dual meet at UW-Eau Claire 186.375-189.525, on Friday night. 

Jamie Beatty tied for first on the uneven bars with a 9.625 and won the floor exercise with a 9.675.

 Jessica Qualich won the vault for the fourth time this season, scoring a personal-best 9.800 to tie the second-highest score in school history. 

The Blue Devils will travel to Whitewater, Wis. on Saturday, February 14 for a 4 p.m. dual meet against the Warhawks in the Williams Center.

TRACK & FIELD

The Blue Devil Track and Field team recently competed at the Gopher Classic.

Both the Blue Devils' men's and women's teams recorded multiple podium finishes. Senior Karter Rashke won the shot put title with a season-best throw of 17.19 meters.

The Blue Devils swept the top three positions in the 200 meters. Freshman Kendall Jaenicke won the event with a season-best time of 22.33. Sophomore Malachy Driscoll finished second at 22.34, while junior Braedon Pederson placed third with a season-best 22.41.

Raegan Sorensen led the Blue Devils with a second-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 3.92 meters (12-10.25), a mark that currently ranks sixth nationally in Division III this season. Senior Leah Zastrow followed closely in third, clearing 3.77 meters (12-4.50).

The Blue Devils will host the Stout Quad on Saturday, February 14, at 11 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Sports and Fitness Center on campus.

SOFTBALL

The Blue Devils softball team will open the 2026 season on Saturday, February 14. They will travel to Dundas, Minn., to face Macalester College at 2 p.m. and host Carleton College at 4 p.m.
